EXAMINATION DEPARTMENT

We wish to advise all the parents of Grade 9, 11, 12 and 13 that the registration

for the CIE Checkpoint, IGCSE O-Level, and GCE AS/A2 Level examinations

respectively, will begin in December 2013. All candidates will be issued with

registration forms and letters containing pertinent information regarding the

applicable examination fees by the 1st week of December 2013.

Kindly note these forms must be returned to the Examination Office and all

the Examination fees must paid by the 6th of FEBRUARY 2014 to enable us to

register the candidates in good time and avoid any undue late entry penalties.

Note: Examination fees shall only be accepted once all school fees has been

cleared.

All parents and guardians are reminded to review their children’s end of term

academic report; any issues can be addressed to the relevant subject teachers.

Please note that for the candidates, the Jan, 2014 is a busy term with the Mocks

and the Checkpoint exams coming up for Grade 9.

In case of any queries or comments do not hesitate to contact any member of the

examination department.

SATURDAY CLASSES FOR CANDIDATES (GRADES 9, 11, 12& 13)

We already began the classes for grades 12 and 13 this term and we are pleased

to inform you that we shall commence the same classes for all our other candi-

dates as soon as we resume for the second term. These classes have been sched-

JUNIOR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES FOR 1ST TERM

The grade ones and twos went for fun trips to Rock City and they enjoyed themselves.

The Junior School sentinels had a colorful swearing in ceremony. The Girl Guides were

not left out in the activities of the term. They have been gracious enough to hoist the

National Flag every Friday and the also mounted a guard of honor for our chief guest

during the Annual Prize Day.

The Junior Science Club members have had very interesting activities this term aimed

at exploring and improving their scientific investigative skills. Their highlight this term

was the dissection of a rabbit from which they learnt the anatomy and enhanced their

understanding of the different systems of the body which is part of their curriculum.

The Cookery Club had their share of fun too as they learnt a few culinary skills. They were able to make marshmallows and pizzas. We look forward to doing more interest-ing activities next term. Good grooming is an integral part of each child’s healthy growth. Please ensure that

your child attends school, not only in the correct uniform, but also clean. Ensure that

their hair is short and neat and their nails trimmed. In our quest to reinforce good

mannerism, we awarded pupils with etiquette badges in the categories of punctuality,

well groomed and most helpful.

COMMEMORATION OF ASHURA

The school had the privilege of holding an awareness campaign to com-

memorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) the Prophet’s grandson

at the plains of Karbala in the year 61AH. The talk was meant to shed

some light on the personality of Imam Hussein, and why he is remem-

bered. We would like to appreciate the presence of Brother Shams Kanani

and Sister Zeenat Khimji who graced the event as guest speakers after

which water was distributed as a way to remember Imam Hussein’s gen-

erosity.

CAREERS DEPARTMENT

Career counselling has gone on well throughout the term. At the same

time, the A-Level students had the opportunity to make applications for

admission to universities in the UK through the UCAS online service.

They also had an opportunity to attend an international careers’ fair at

PFL (Preparation for Life). Two major activities planned for next term

include our Annual Careers’ Fair and community service for our senior

students.

CHARITY

As you are aware, we adopted the ‘Fill My Cup Porridge Appeal’ as our

annual event. Our theme this year is: “Children in Action”. This is an

outreach project by the students to help the needy children in the poverty

stricken areas in Kenya. Activities have been planned by a task force

comprising of members of staff and leaders of the students’ council. We

have scheduled weekly events such as bake sales, face painting, sponsor-

ship forms and shoe shine shops. We have received an overwhelming

support from our dear students, thanks to you parents for supporting

them both financially and materially.

The culmination of our charity activities towards this endeavor will be

next week. On the Monday 2nd December, 2013 all pupils and students

are expected to come adorned in their cultural wear as they collect their

scripts. They will be expected to donate a minimum of 50 Kshs towards

the project. Kindly note that school will end at 1.00 p.m and the buses

will leave immediately after. Please organize to pick your child/ren if

they use private means.

On Tuesday, 3rd December, 2013 we have organized a ‘Fun Day’. We

have lots of activities lined up for the day such as horse riding. Swim-

ming, trampoline, sponge throws zog balls, food stalls and ice cream.

The dress code for the fun day is Sportswear. Parents are encouraged to

support their children in this endeavor for it is for a worthy cause. Note:

School will end at 3.20pm.

The Ashura celebrations held in the School

Quadrangle

“Children in Action”-Project in support of the

needy children was held in the School.
