    PREMESSA

    One of the most interesting aspects in every Martial

    Art is undoubtedly the unarmed self-defence, and this

    is true also for Italian Martial Tradition. In Nova

    Scrimia, the study of this discipline, both in its ancient

    (of Middle Age and Renaissance) and classic version

    (fight and Box Libera, XIX century), has no aim of

    historical reconstruction, it is rather a searching-

    ricreative one.

    Methods and real operative contests have a

    connection with models referred to self defence.

    GLIo mi metto in dente di cinghiale per contrastare la tua guardia.Sono cos certo di impedire le tue prese e, se mi serve, cambioguardia ed entro in porta di ferro. Sono in una posizionefavorevole per metterti a terra. Se per tue capacit difensive nonriesco a fare quanto dico, allora cercher altre soluzioni per farti

    male. Applicher (per raggiungere lo scopo) qualunque azionedi rottura (roture), intrappolamento (ligadure), slogatura(dislogadure), in tutti quei modi che sono descritti dalle figure.

    Porta di Ferro

    GLSono in porta di ferro e senza muovermi aspetto qualsiasi tuaazione. Infatti, sono preparato ad intercettare il tuo attacco atutto mio vantaggio. mia la maestria di saper lottare.Questarte poi ha grande importanza nel combattere con ogniarma sia essa lancia, spada o daga.Porta di ferro mi chiamo e sono una guardia piena di insidie

    (malizie piena). Chi attacca questa guardia si trova in gravedifficolt (briga) e rischia dolorose contrarie. E a te che cerchidi sconfiggermi con le prese, io ti avverto che ti far cadere aterra.

    PDSe non mi sconfiggerai grazie alla tua abilit e intelligenza(incegno), io credo che grazie alla mia forza tecnica riuscir afarti molto male (male e peco).

    GLIl mio nome posta frontale sono la guardia per guadagnarele prese. Io vengo verso di te con questa guardia e tu crederai dipotermi ferire. Ma io posso muovermi e se serve con ingegnocambier la guardia in porta di ferro. Rapidamente posso fartitanto male da farti credere di essere allinferno. Sar facile per

    me (far bon merchato) intrappolarti e romperti le braccia. Ebasta che io ricordi le azioni (se no sar smemorato), da questoingaggio posso applicare ogni tipo di presa o tecnica.

    General directions

    Master Fiore begins his lessons with unarmed combator wrestling, dealing with the guards and the related

    Guards and Poste: Structures of interception

    Master Fiore is very clear on this regards: the Guardsaims is to protect yourself from the opponents attacks,

    and, thanks to an active defence, to strike him at thesame time. The Posta has likewise the purpose to waitfor the enemys attack in a posture, which allows to hitavoiding every danger. Therefore, all the FlosDuellatorums guards are useful not just for blockingan opponents blow, but even to penetratesimultaneously into the enemys defence.

    It is a system that we could define as interceptionstructure or closing of the engagement lines.Intercepting (intercipere: inter = tra-among/between+ capere = prendereseize/catch) means to interposepiercing and dynamic obstacles, before someone orsomething has the possibility to hit us.     EXERCISES

    Exercise n 1

    Put in front of your partner.

    Both take the Posta Longa with the right foot

    before, the external side of your arm touch your

    partners in the same point.

    Now disengage your arm, stepping forth with

    passata, and move your arm under the opponents

    until you touch his face. At the same time moveforward your left arm and seize the opponents right

    arm to the elbow.

    Then back to the guard to allow your partner to do

    the same. Change the guards with the left foot

    before and repeat the whole drill again.

    When the skill of your hands will increase, begin to

    step on the circle holding the arms in touch.

    Try the same exercise starting both from Porta di

    Ferro and stepping to contact in Posta Longa.

    Exercise n 2

    Take the Dente de Zenghiar guard with the right

    foot before and your partner stay in left Porta di
