TRANSCRIPT
We've had two weeks of the best Olympics of 60years for the United States teams and championsin Rio with 121 medals: 46 gold, 37 silver and 38bronze. We got to watch from our homes! Now thatis fabulous! Our Final Five Gymnastics Team wonit all with Simone Biles' best ever talent! In Dr. Frank Hoffmann’s Life Group at First
West, the scripture was one of our favorites...1 Peter 3: 8-9. "All of us should be of one mind,
full of sympathy for each other, loving one anotherwith tender hearts and open minds. Don't repayevil for evil. Don't retaliate when people say unkindthings, instead pay them back with a blessing, that'swhat God wants us to do." Great niece, Margaret Manning, granddaughter
of Rosemary and Randy Ewing and beautifuldaughter of Judge Wendell and Ashley Manning, has spent the last two summers interning for Dr.Ralph Abraham-R, and Dr. Bill Cassidy-R, formerCongressman and now Senator from Baton Rouge.Last summer, Margaret was more of a tourist, see-ing all the fabulous historic sites and learning aboutWashington and the political scene. This summer,
she settled in a quaint brown-stone in a great D.C. neigh-borhood and worked hard.Without a car, she walked tothe grocery in the stifling heatand accessed the ssubway towork. She is more excitedabout her major at LSU, Po-litical Communication, thanever! The Washington sceneto Margaret is about servantleadership, as she watchedboth mentors stop everythingto talk to and assist con-stituents with their problems.Under Cassidy, she was as-signed to the staff person incharge of addressing issues in
higher education, which is her particular interest!Margaret is a top student in the prestigious Man-ship School of Journalism at LSU and will graduatefrom the Honors College next May. She will live inthe A. Hays Town designed Tri Delta House for hersenior year. Law School is looming in the future forthis former Miss Neville High School and Valedic-torian, who attributes the diversity of the studentbody at Neville for definitely helping her under-stand the melting pot of people from all over theworld in Washington! Margaret has “it” all and wewill see great things from her organizational, hightechnological, and leadership skills. Stay tuned forMargaret Manning wants to make a difference forthe good of all of us!LSU is ranked fifth in the nation for the upcom-
ing season with Bama first, Clemson second, Okla-homa and Florida State ahead of us in the AP Poll. Family comes first in the flood! Friends, Juli
Hales and Robert Kemp, zoomed through the floodwaters to rescue five family members in Prairievillein brother Harvey and Mary Ann Hales’ Tahoe.Kelly, Karen, Katie, and Lauren, and mother-in-law, seven family members, three dogs and theirnecessities roared back to Monroe for a shortrespite from a flooded home. Thank God for familyand friends helping each other when they can!May the words of our mouths and the medita-
tions of our hearts be acceptable in thy sight OLord, you are our strength and our redeemer...
