Charlotte O’Connor is a charismatic 20-year-old singer songwriter from Blackburn (UK). She’s young and beautiful, but it is with her carefully crafted songs, her mesmerizing soulful voice and her cheeky British sense of humour that she charms the audience. Charlotte’s music is a mix of acoustic folk and soul, which she describes as “stuff boys listen to when they’re on their own”.
Passionate about fashion and with a unique sense of style, Charlotte has also collaborated with the Quiksilver brand in the creation of its female clothing line launched in 2008. The brand has been encouraging and supporting young talented women around the globe who embody the spirit of Quiksilver and has been following them in their creative journeys. By providing Charlotte with valuable tools and resources to help her create an expression that is all her own, Quiksilver and the Sam Bush Organisation have opened new doors for young artists to be heard.

After much hard work and many hours in studio, Charlotte O’Connor is now ready to release her debut album in partnership with Quiksilver. Produced by Mario Caldato Junior, producer of the Beastie Boys and Jack Johnson, Charlotte’s first album will be launched in November 2011. The album “For Kenny”, named after Charlotte’s childhood imaginary mouse friend, includes some of the early songs charlotte wrote in her own bedroom as well as collaborations with other writers such as Sacha Skarbek (who has also worked with artists such as Adele, Jason Mraz or Duffy).
Before the first single is released, Charlotte will embark on a promotional tour with her band, starting at the Quiksilver Pro New York in Long Island, USA, and finishing at the Quiksilver Pro France in Hossegor, South West of France. Throughout the European tour she will also perform at Quiksilver Stores in locations such as Newquay, London, Paris or Madrid. With a presence on stage powerful beyond her years and having already supported the likes of Newton Faulkner, James Morrison, The Script and Lissie, this fall looks set to be the time of her life.

www.2bemag.comVideo Art
The video recording is an essential element to keep record of ephemeral artistic expressions or the elaborating process of the artist , which in some cases this will be a key element to get to know him and deepen in his work.
In the case of graffiti, video and photography are remains highly valued, as being a tangible art, its illegality and public acces make it difficult to mantain. This is the famous case of Keith Haring video, with him painting a graffiti, now non-existing in the Raval district of Barcelona in 1989. K. Haring, like Jean Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, became a recognized artist after being absorbed from the Bronx of New York to the art system of the eighties.
The video that we present you now, made in slow motion shows the process of mural “Car” by Spanish artist Liqen. A graffiti held in Guadalajara (Mexico) that deals with the meaning of the cars in this country: “Today, in Mexico, there is a kind of paranoid obsession with the production, sale and purchase of one of these beings with four wheels, giving the car the same attributes as a pet and even superimposed over human beings. . The car has the preference, with respect to pedestrians, but goes beyond that ... in many cases it serves to create disputes and differences of social rank, “says Liqen. The artist makes use of the visibility of this means of expression to raise a reflection of the values of the Mexican society.

I went to Cibeles, the Madrid Fashion Week, unfortunately I have not even seen one of the Fashion Shows but the good thing about those events is that the point of interest is not always just inside the building, sometimes it’s even the other way around. I am not saying that the offer outside is more interesting, that would be blasphemy, but definitely different compared to what you see on the catwalk and much more accessible too. Here are my personal favorites I was able to capture at the IFEMA in the Spanish capital. Now forge your own opinion… And stay tuned for next month’s issue, as I will step on Portuguese ground for the first time in my life.
