Secondly, this year will offer a new and unique venue on Saturday and Sunday to experience a Scottish games in conjunction with our reunion events. Host Brooks Wilson is a member of the Caledonian Club of San Francisco as well as the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines Association. The Caledonian Club has hosted an annual Scottish gathering and games since 1866 in the Bay Area and it is the largest Scottish games of its’ type in the world, drawing 35-50,000 on the Labor Day weekend each year. Brooks thought it would be a lot of fun to combine the two events into one “lallapalooza!” A similar reunion was held in 2010 and all who attended had a wonderful time. Members will get to experience the fun of attending a Scottish heritage event including such things as ethnic foods, whiskey tasting, folks in period regalia, contests for pipers, drummers, pipe bands, drum majors and athletes, sheep dog exhibitions, Scottish sheep, dogs and cattle, clan tents where one might begin the search for his or her roots, and two grandstand shows per day to cap the excitement and wonder of it all. Not to be forgotten are the many vendors selling their Scottish wares should members be caught up in the swirl of things and desire to take home a remembrance or two. Members might even find out what’s under a kilt! Our guests of honor will be Colonel Robert Weiler and his lovely wife Nicole. The Colonel is the Commanding Officer of the 5 th Marine Regiment and former Battalion Commander of the 2 nd Battalion, 4 th Marines. Members will discover that the people who attend this fine event are very patriotic and appreciative of our military. Our Association will be recognized at the grandstand shows each day. A special feature at these shows will the 1 st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton, California, which has been invited to perform along with the many pipe bands. The closing shows each day will feature 30 plus massed pipe bands and the 1 st Marine Division Band in a magnificent pageantry not to be missed! TRANSPORTATION: For those attendees flying into the Bay Area, there are three airports: SanFrancisco International (SFO), Oakland International (OAK) and San Jose International (SJC). Thelatter two are the closest. Transportation is readily available, but perhaps the easiest way to travelbetween the hotel and airport is by renting a car or using the SuperShuttle. Advanced reservations arerequired for the SuperShuttle and they may be made online at www.supershuttle.com. When you makethese reservations, SuperShuttle will reply with a confirmation and location for pick up at the airport.

ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION:

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) - If desired, the BART system connects the San Francisco andOakland airports to the Dublin BART station. BART does not connect with the San JoseInternational airport. Uber, Lyft or a taxi may be used to transfer from the Dublin BART stationto the San Ramon Marriott.

If you desire to travel via BART to any Bay Area location, plan ahead on the internet by going towww.bart.gov/schedules/bystation.aspx . Use the Dublin/Pleasanton station as your startingpoint. Complete schedule information is available online or at the station.

Rental Cars - Rental car agencies abound in all the airports as well. It is recommended that yourent a car for getting around, but use the BART to go to San Francisco to avoid heavy traffic andhigh parking costs.

TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN HOTELS AND GAMES: There will be a free shuttle available forgames attendees between the hotels and games site at the Alameda County Fairgrounds both days of theGames. Service starts at 0630 and concludes at 1930. Each shuttle trip takes approximately 40 minutesto an hour depending upon the number of riders and traffic. It would be easier to drive to the Games inyour POV or rental car, but be aware that parking costs $10 per day. Trip time for POV’s / rental cars isabout 15-20 minutes. There are golf cart shuttles from the parking areas to the Games event locations forthose needing assistance.

Hopefully, the information contained herein will whet your appetite to attend what may be the bestreunion yet! Registration and daily schedule information is presented below. Brooks, Colleen and thereunion staff eagerly await your arrival and trust you will have as much fun as we will in putting on thiswonderful event for you!
