The Problem: Connecting Research with Researchers Without a way to uniquely identify those participating in research across disciplines, organizations, and countries, the research community lacks the ability to accurately and easily identify and link researchers and scholars with their professional activities.

Broadly Speaking Success would mean that

(1)  Researchers can be uniquely identified using ORCID IDs

(2)  Researchers can be reliably linked with their research

(3)  Researchers and organizations are happy with the ORCID service

In the short term: v Are researchers logging on to ORCID?

v Are they able to register?

v Are institutions registering their researchers?

v Are researchers using ORCID IDs in other contexts?

v Are other organizations integrating ORCID IDs?

In the medium/long term: v Are researchers creating ORCID Records?

v Are ORCID Records getting updates via API?

v Are ORCID IDs widely used in the research community, both by researchers and organizations?

v  Is the research community able to link research with researchers using the ORCID Registry data?

How many people are registering? From which domains? Countries?

How are people using the Website (Google Analysitcs—page hits, user flows)?

How many members? How many tokens issued? From what stakeholder groups?

How many organizations are registering their researchers? From what countries?

How many organizations are integrating ORCID IDs? Types of integrations? How many use cases? Code samples?

What will we measure (now)?
