The 12-team NCAA Championships' field competes in two semifinal sessions of six teams each on April 20. The top three teams in each session advance to the April 21 NCAA Super Six to determine the team champion. Florida has advanced to the NCAA Championships 35 times in the meet's 36-year history, missing only the 2000 event. The Gators moved from NCAA Championships semifinal competition to the NCAA Super Six team final 12 of the last 14 years (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017). Florida won the 2013, 2014 and 2015 NCAA titles. The 2018 University Park Regional contains two teams among the 2017 NCAA Championships’ field – Florida and Washington. Four other teams among the regional field look to return to NCAA Championship action – Arizona State (1999 – last appearance), New Hampshire (1994), Penn State (2014) and West Virginia (2000). The NCAA began seeding regional fields in 1999 and UF has been a region's top seed in each of the last 13 years. A team ranked No. 1-6, No. 7-12 and No. 13-18 are part of each regional. Florida won its last six regional titles, including the 2017 NCAA Regional held in Gainesville. A sweep of the the Southeastern Conference Championships’ event titles wasn’t enough for the Gator gymnastics team at the March 24 event in St. Louis, Mo. LSU took its third SEC Championship at 197.40, followed by Alabama (196.975) and Florida (196.825). The Gators led at the midway point, but a miss calculated in its floor rotation dropped UF in the standings. Senior Alex McMurtry won both vault (9.975) and uneven bars (9.95). She is the third in league history and first since 1999 to earn a ‘SEC Slam’ – winning each of the five SEC individual event titles during collegiate career. Freshman Alyssa Baumann’s beam mark equaled McMurtry’s vault score as the high individual score of the SEC Championships. That 9.975 is second only to Georgia’s Cory Fritzinger's 10.0 in 2004 SEC Championships' beam competition. Junior Alicia Boren claimed a share of the SEC floor title (9.90) and took second in the all-around. Joining the trio on the All-SEC team were teammates Rachel Slocum, Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley. Baumann and Megan Skaggs also earned SEC All- Freshman team honors. McMurtry was a double-winner in the SEC Awards revealed March 29. McMurtry is the 2018 SEC Event Specialist and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the second in SEC history to claim a gymnast of the year and scholar-athlete honors in the same season. McMurtry is the first to do it twice (2017 SEC Gymnast and Scholar-Athlete). Five Gators picked up National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC) Regular- Season All-America honors, announced March 28. McMurtry (vault, bars, beam - all first team) and Boren (all-around, beam, floor – all second team) each claimed three honors.

MEET COACH ROWLAND Jenny Rowland, one of the nation’s rising coaching talents, is in her third season as University of Florida’s head gymnastics coach. Rowland is the seventh head coach for the Gator program, which is in its 46th season in 2018.

She shared the 2016 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year honor with Arkansas’ Mark Cook. She joins volleyball’s Mary Wise (1991) as a Gator coach who claimed SEC Coach of the Year honors in their first season at UF.

Rowland’s experiences from the sport’s highest level are the same as many current Gators. She is a former U.S. National Team member, a collegiate All-American and was named a 2015 National Collegiate Assistant of the Year.

Rowland is a Category 3 International Brevet level judge. She served on the judging panel for the 2008, 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials. Rowland’s Coaching Career: At Florida: Florida reached the NCAA Super Six team final in each of Rowland’s first two seasons with the Gators, taking fourth in 2016 and third in 2017. Rowland was named the 2016 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year after the Gators won that season’s team title. Gators won NCAA individual event titles in each of the last two seasons. Bridget Sloan won the 2016 NCAA all-around and shared that season’s uneven bars and balance beam titles. Alex McMurtry is the reigning NCAA all-around champion and shared that season’s uneven bars crown. The Honda Award for gymnastics went to Sloan (2016) and McMurtry (2017), distinguishing them as the nation’s top collegiate gymnast. McMurtry was part of a rare double in 2017 and 2018, claiming both the SEC Gymnast (2017)/SEC Event Specialist (2018) and the SEC Scholar-Athlete awards. In National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC) All-America regular-season awards, nine Gators picked up 33 honors since 2016.

At Auburn: Rowland came to Florida after spending five seasons at Auburn. She joined the Auburn coaching staff as an assistant coach in October of 2010 and was elevated to associate head coach in March of 2013. Rowland worked with all aspects of the Auburn gymnastics program, coordinating all of the program's community outreach efforts and interactions on campus as well as playing an integral role in recruiting and in-gym activities.

She was named co-National Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015 after helping Auburn reach the NCAA Super Six for the first time in 22 years.

Coaching Career Start in Sooner State: Rowland coached Elite gymnasts at Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Okla., for five years and then joined the Oklahoma coaching staff in June of 2001. At OU, she helped coach the Sooners to the 2004 Big XIII title, three-time team NCAA qualifiers (2004-06) and three Big XIII Gymnasts of the Year.

As a Gymnast: During her gymnastics career, Rowland was a USA National Team member from 1985-1990 and was part of the U.S.’s 1989 World Championships team. During her collegiate career, she earned All-America honors for the uneven bars in 1993 for Arizona State.

After retiring from competition, she returned to her home state, enrolling at the University of Oklahoma to finish her degree.

Final Season for NCAA Super Six Starting in 2019, the NCAA Championships moves to a four-team regional/super-regional bracket model. The regional/super-regional competition will be conducted over three days at four sites around the country. Two teams at each site compete in a play-in on the first day. On the second day of regionals, eight teams compete in two sessions of four, with the top two in each sessions advancing to the next day. On the final day, four teams compete with the top two teams advancing to the finals site. At the national championship site, the eight-team field will compete in two four-team semifinals. The top two teams in each semifinal advance to the NCAA team final.

About NCAA Regional Competition Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and one individual event specialist per event [who has a minimum qualifying score (RQS) of 9.4] were named to each of the six regions. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive a NCAA Championships’ automatic berth to the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo., April 20-21. In addition, the event winners at the regional championships advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier. Yale freshman Jacey Baldovino is the individual all-arounder assigned to Florida. She performs after UF's sixth competitor. NCAA University Park Region All-Around & Individual Event Competitors

This is the fifth time since the NCAA went to national seeding for regional competition in 1999 that Florida opens regional competition on floor.

What’s Next? The top two teams from each of the six region sites advance to the 37th edition of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, set for April 20-21 at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo. For the fifth consecutive season, the seeding

determined at the time of regional selections is maintained throughout the championships. Standard bracketing procedures will be followed with teams seeded 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 12 placed on the left side of the bracket and teams seeded 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 placed on the right side of the bracket.

Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes

FLORIDA QUICK HITS ►Florida opened at No. 2 on the 2018 Road to Nationals preseason poll. This is the Gators’ 12th consecutive appearance in the nation’s preseason top five. ►Florida returns five gymnasts with 21 All-America honors earned in NCAA Championships competition. The five earned 10 All-America honors in 2017 NCAA competition – seniors Kennedy Baker (floor exercise), Alex McMurtry (all-around, vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor) and Rachel Slocum (vault). Junior Alicia Boren (all-around, vault) and sophomore Amelia Hundley (all-around) earned 2017 All-America honors. McMurtry won the 2017 NCAA all-around and among a six-way tie for the uneven bars title. ►Eight Gators have been a part of their national teams, including seven for the U.S. Two incoming freshmen – Alyssa Baumann (2016-17, 2015-16, 2014-15) and Megan Skaggs (2014-15) join sophomores Rachel Gowey (2016-17, 2014-15, 2013-14) and Amelia Hundley (2016-17, 2015-16, 2014-15) and seniors Kennedy Baker (2013-14, 2012-13), and Grace McLaughlin (2011-12) as past U.S. Senior National Team members. Another freshman, Jazmyn Foberg, was a two-time U.S. Junior National Team member (2015-16, 2014-15). Sophomore Maegan Chant has been a part of Canada’s national team. NATION’S BEST IN 2018 NCAA COMPETITION The U.S. has taken team gold in the last two Olympic Games. The depth available to U.S. coaching staff has helped the U.S. take the team gold by comfortable margins. The last two U.S. Olympic Trials contained 24 different athletes and now 13 of those gymnasts are competing in NCAA action. Florida leads all programs with three representatives from the last two Olympic Trials – Kennedy Baker (2012), Rachel Gowey (2016) and Amelia Hundley (2016). Freshman Alyssa Baumann qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials, but an elbow injury suffered while training kept her out of the Trials.

MORE GATOR NOTES Five Gators on NACGC Regular-Season All-America List Nine honors went to five Gators in the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC) All-America list. This is the sixth season for NACGC regular-season All-America honors. All-Americans are determined by their regional qualifying score (RQS) standings in the Road to Nationals rankings entering NCAA Regional competition. The top eight gymnasts on each event and the all-around receive first-team honors and gymnasts Nos. 9-16 are second-team All-Americans with all ties included. The five Gators earning spots on the 2018 list include two with a trio of All-America honors. Senior Alex McMurtry earned first team for vault, uneven bars and balance beam. Junior Alicia Boren collected second-team honors for all-around, beam and floor exercise. Three Gators claimed All-America second-team honors – Alyssa Baumann (beam), Rachel Gowey (beam) and Rachel Slocum (vault). All-America status can also be earned at NCAA Championships with a top-four (first team) or No. 5-8 (second team) placing in team semifinal action.

Rachel Slocum Honored for Community Service Efforts Senior Rachel Slocum is the Gators’ representative on the 2018 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service Team. The team is made up of one gymnast from each of the eight competing universities who gives back to her community through exemplary service efforts. Each of the 21 sports the league sponsors have its own Community Service Team. Since the start of the fall 2017 semester, Slocum accumulated 40 hours of community service, participating in 12 different events.

Gators Well Represented in SEC Awards The league’s vault and bars champion, Gator senior Alex McMurtry, is the Southeastern Conference Event Specialist Gymnast of the Year, the league office announced March 29. She also claimed the SEC Scholar-Athlete award.

The SEC awards are based on a vote of the league coaches. ● McMurtry is the SEC Event Specialist Gymnast of the Year (honor started in 2014). A Gator has claimed the SEC Gymnast or Event Specialist of Year award five times. McMurtry, the 2017 SEC Gymnast of the Year, is the first Gator to win top league individual honors in consecutive years. ● McMurtry joins Rebekah Zaiser (2008) as the only Gators to claim the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. The SEC Scholar-Athlete award started in 2003. McMurtry is the second to take both a Gymnast and Scholar-Athlete honor in the same season. The first was Alabama's Kayla Hoffman in 2011. McMurtry, who claimed the SEC Gymnast and Scholar-Athlete honors in 2017, is the first to win both awards in consecutive years. ● Florida equaled the league high with six on the All-SEC team. Two also appear on the All-SEC Freshman team. ● Joining McMurtry on the All-SEC team was the other two Gators with SEC individual titles – junior Alicia Boren (floor) and freshman Alyssa Baumann (beam). Also on the All-SEC team- senior Rachel Slocum, sophomore Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley. ● Baumann and Megan Skaggs represented UF on the SEC All-Freshman team.

Gators at the Southeastern Conference Championships A sweep of the Southeastern Conference Championships’ event titles wasn’t enough for the Gator gymnastics team at the March 24 event in St. Louis, Mo. LSU took its third SEC Championship at 197.40, followed by Alabama (196.975) and Florida (196.825). The Gators led at the midway point, but a miss calculated in its floor rotation dropped UF in the standings.

Senior Alex McMurtry won vault (9.975) and uneven bars (9.95). She is the third in league history and first since 1999 to earn a ‘SEC Slam’ – winning each of the five SEC individual event titles during course of collegiate career.

They were joined on the All-SEC team by Rachel Slocum, Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley. Baumann and Megan Skaggs also earned SEC All-Freshman team honors.

Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes

Freshman Class Ranked No. 1 The Gators’ four-member freshman class tops the 2018 CollegeGymFans.com rankings. In the last nine years, Florida’s freshmen class ranked No. 1 six times and No. 2 twice. Three have been part of U.S. National Teams. Three-time U.S. Senior Team member Alyssa Baumann earned gold with the 2014 U.S. Senior National Team at the World Championships. Megan Skaggs joined Baumann on the 2014-15 U.S. Senior National Team. She earned gold with the 2015 U.S. Pan American Games team. Jazmyn Foberg was a two-time U.S. Junior National team member. She competed with U.S. Junior teams in 2015 meets in Italy and Japan. Nicole Webb trained at the same club, Sonshine Gymnastics, as senior Rachel Slocum. Webb was second on beam and fifth on floor at the 2017 North Carolina Level 10 State Championships.

Event Sweep It started with a tie for vault (9.95), but the rest of the March 9 versus Nebraska event titles – including the all-around – were solo wins for senior All-American Alex McMurtry. She used marks of 9.975 for the bars and beam wins and won floor at 9.925. McMurtry’s all-around total of 39.825 equals the school record set by Alaina Johnson and then equaled by Bridget Sloan (both in 2014). Five event titles in a single meet doesn’t happen often. The last came at LSU when then sophomore Ashanée Dickerson won the 2011 dual meet titles.

I Got This Freshman Alyssa Baumann was next up on balance beam for the Gators. She was following a miss and was competing for the first time at the University of Georgia’s Stegeman Coliseum. To add to the moment, shortly after Baumann started her routine, the sold-out Stegeman Coliseum crowd of more than 10,000 started cheering the first Bulldog 10.0 of the season just posted for Sydney Snead on floor. If she noticed the roar, it didn’t appear in Baumann’s routine. She was calm and steady throughout to earn the meet’s winning beam mark of 9.90. “Before I got on beam, I knew someone had fallen, so there was a little bit of pressure there. But I knew I could hit my routine. When I was performing and someone had a perfect 10.0, I couldn’t hear myself think. I’ve never before performed with a crowd cheering like that. In elite, you can hear a pin drop. I just tried to tell myself it [the cheering] was for me and to stay calm and confident.” Baumann went to win her third beam title of the 2018 at the Southeastern Conference Championships. Her winning mark of 9.975 equaled her collegiate best. It is second only to the 10.0 by Georgia’s Cory Fritzinger in 2004 SEC competition. Baumann is the first freshman to win the SEC beam since Georgia’s Brittany Rogers was among a three-way tie for the 2013 title.

Alex McMurtry Top 10 on Career Wins Chart Senior Alex McMurtry is among Gators with 40 or more career event titles. She is sixth on the list with 71 event wins. She’s been consistent in the three events primarily competed (vault, bars, beam) to accumulate her wins, as only six titles come from floor and all-around. Among those on the list with 40 or more event titles, McMurtry’s 16 career all-around appearances is by far the lowest (Melanie Sinclair’s 26 all-arounder performances is second-to-lowest).

Two 2018 Home Meets Sellouts The crowd of 9,661 for the 2018 home opener is the first sellout in Gator gymnastics 46-year history. It was also a sellout of 9,652 when Oklahoma visited on Jan. 26. Those crowds rank No. 4 and No. 5 all-time, as the O’Connell Center gymnastics capacity was larger before the venue’s renovation prior to the 2017 season. Florida’s 2018 attendance average of 8,304 per meet sets the program record (previous record: 7,433 per meet in 2016). The average stands No. 5 among the nation’s gymnastics programs for 2018. That average stands No. 9 among 2017-18 NCAA women’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball programs. Half of the top-10 season attendance averages from those three sports come from gymnastics.

Perfection for Two Different Vaults It was her first performance of the Yurchenko double (start value: 10.0) of 2018 and Alex McMurtry was rewarded with a 10.0 – her third vault 10.0 of her Gator career. In the next meet at Auburn on Feb. 2, McMurtry performed the Yurchenko full (start value: 9.95). That vault received a perfect mark of 9.95. She again posted a 9.95 for the same vault versus Arkansas. For the record, McMurtry’s received six perfect vault marks as a collegiate:

Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes

Did You Know… • The average height for the Gators is 5-2 ½ . • Sierra Alexander is 5-7, the tallest Gator since the 2007 roster had a pair of 5-8 gymnasts – Breanne King and Chantelle Tousek. • Kennedy Baker’s younger brother, Stephen, is also a gymnast. • Alyssa Baumann is the third Gator to be a part of a medal-winning U.S. World Championship team. Baumann was part of the 2014 gold medal team. Mackenzie Caquatto and Bridget Sloan were both part of the 2010 U.S. team that took silver. • Alicia Boren won four consecutive Junior Olympic Level 10 all-around titles (2015, 2014, 2013, 2012). • Maegan Chant got her dog Charlie when she was 12. He dad said if she finished in the top three in the 2010 Elite Canada all-around, she could get a dog. She took second. • Amanda Cheney started gymnastics at age six. She was involved in dance but couldn’t suppress the desire to do cartwheels. She asked her mother if she could try gymnastics. • Jazmyn Foberg is the second member of the 2018 Gator team to graduate high school a year early to start college. Alex McMurtry also finished high school in three years to join the 2015 Gator team. • Rachel Gowey learned a bit more than how to become an elite gymnast while she trained at Chow’s Gymnastics. Liang Chow also taught her to count to five in Chinese. • Amelia Hundley’s family owns a dance studio and she’s taken classes for a variety of types of dance. Her favorite? Tap. • Francesca Lawal’s first language spoken was Italian. She also is fluent in Spanish and English. • Grace McLaughlin is fourth member of the current Gator team who was part of a U.S.’s gold medal Pan American Games Team. McLaughlin was on 2011 team, Gowey and Skaggs on 2015 and Hundley on 2014 and 2015 teams. • Alex McMurtry is the fifth Gator to claim both Southeastern Conference athlete and scholar-athlete honors in a single season. Others to sweep are: Camilo Villegas, 2004 men’s golf; Tim Tebow, 2008 and 2008 football; Bank Vongvanij, 2011 men’s golf and Patric Young, 2014 men’s basketball (defensive player of year). • Megan Skaggs is one of three Gators on the 2015 Pan American Games gold medal team. Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley also were on that team. • Rachel Slocum also trained as an ice skater until age 9 when she had to pick which sport to pursue. Gymnastics won because she loves flipping and magically landing on her feet. • Nicole Webb also was a competitive swimmer until age 13. Her best events were breaststroke and backstroke.

All-Around Consistent Junior All-American Alicia Boren has been an all-around competitor since Meet 2 of her freshman season. She now has competed as an all-arounder in 38 consecutive meets. All but four of those performances totaled 39.15 or better. This season, Boren has won six all-around titles, including five consecutive. She set her season-best of 39.60 with her win versus Alabama. Boren just missed winning her seventh all-around, as she was edged by the sport’s slenderest margin of 0.025 from claiming the 2018 Southeastern Conference title. The last time a Gator competed in 30-plus all-around competitions was Gator Great Chrissy Van Fleet. She performed as an all-arounder in 33 consecutive meets from the 1998-2000 seasons.

Gators Collect SEC Weekly Honors Southeastern Conference weekly honors went to five different Gators in 2018. Week 1: Jazmyn Foberg: SEC Freshman of Week

Runner-up in the season opener all-around at 39.125 in Florida’s win last Friday at West Virginia. That total is the second highest among the nation’s freshmen and highest among SEC freshmen so far in 2018. Her total is the fifth-highest ever for a Gator freshman in a season opener. Week 4: Alex McMurtry: SEC Gymnast of Week Alyssa Baumann: SEC Freshman of Week A pair of 10.0s (vault, beam) moved McMurtry to the top of Florida’s career 10.0 list at nine. The perfect mark on beam completed a “Gym Slam” – a perfect mark on each apparatus. Also became the first Gator to earn a pair of 10.0s in a single meet. Baumann became the second Gator freshman (Bridget Sloan first in 2013) to post a near-perfect 9.975 on beam. Her 9.925 on floor as UF’s final performer of the meet moved Florida ahead of Oklahoma for the first time of the competition. Week 6: Kennedy Baker: SEC Specialist Gymnast of Week Alyssa Baumann: SEC Freshman of Week Baker closed competition with a 10.0 – her third on her signature event. It is the third floor 10.0 in the nation and the only one of the weekend. Baumann competed in two events, posting a 9.925 for each performance. She shared second on beam and was third in the floor exercise. The mark equaled her collegiate floor best. Week 8: Megan Skaggs: SEC Freshman of the Week Skaggs turned in collegiate-best marks of 9.90 to take third in both the Feb. 23 Arkansas dual uneven bars and balance beam competition. Week 10: Alex McMurtry – SEC Gymnast of the Week Jazmyn Foberg – SEC Freshman of the Week Swept the event titles, including matching Florida’s all-around record of 39.825. First Gator since 2011 to win at least a share of each of the five events in a single meet. Foberg set collegiate bests for both events competed versus Nebraska – 9.90 (vault) and 9.95 (bars).

Freshmen Perfection or Close to It When freshman Alyssa Baumann upped her collegiate beam best to 9.975 on Jan. 26, it marked the 21st time a Gator freshman earned a 10.0 or 9.975. Vault is the event where freshmen have most often scored 10.0 or close to it, with 12 marks from four different gymnasts. She matched that mark of near perfection to claim the 2018 Southeastern Conference beam title. That mark is second only to Georgia’s Cory Fritzinger's 10.0 in 2004 SEC Championships' beam competition. McMurtry Completes “Gym Slam” She stuck her dismount and the Exactech Arena crowd started a 10.0 for Alex McMurtry’s balance beam routine. When the 10.0s flashed from both judge’s tables, the arena erupted in celebration of McMurtry’s ninth perfect mark of her career – and her second 10.0 of the evening. The beam score gave McMurtry a 10.0 in each apparatus, completing the “Gym Slam” for perfect marks. She joins Gator Great Bridget Sloan as the two in Florida’s 46-year history to record a 10.0 in each apparatus. McMurtry is the 10th in collegiate history to complete a “Gym Slam”.

Baker and McMurtry finalists for AAI Senior Award Florida’s Kennedy Baker and Alex McMurtry are among the 10 finalists for the 2018 AAI Award, given annually to the top senior student-athlete in NCAA Division I women's gymnastics. The winner will be announced at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships awards banquet in St. Louis, Mo.

10.0 No. 3 for Baker She waited through the entire meet to compete as Florida’s final performer of the competition. And it was worth the wait, as Baker anchored Florida’s floor exercise lineup with a 10.0.

Third 10.0 floor mark of her career (once as a sophomore, junior and now a senior)

Third floor 10.0 in the nation this season and only perfect floor mark of the weekend

Season average of 9.945 ranks Baker second in the nation on floor.

14th floor title of career and second of 2018 12th 10.0 mark in Florida gymnastics’ 46-year history

A tear to her right Achilles tendon while performing her second tumbling pass in the Feb. 23 dual versus Arkansas ended Baker’s collegiate career.

McMurtry’s Career Night Alex McMurtry’s final appearance in Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center was a record night. Her first regular-season all-around win came after posting a total of 39.825 – equaling the Florida record and tying for the nation’s third-highest total of 2018. Florida’s all-around record of 39.825 was set by Alaina Johnson in 2014 and equaled later that season by Bridget Sloan. McMurtry’s record all-around came from some big event scores. She tied for the March 9 vault title (9.95) and won the other events outright (9.975 – bars, beam; 9.925 – floor). McMurtry has won four all-around titles as a Gator. The other three came in 2017 championship meet succession – Southeastern Conference, NCAA Regional and NCAA Championship. Her winning total of 39.8125 set the NCAA Championships’ semifinal record.

Did You Know… Every Gator gymnast has a “Gator Chomp” choreographed into her floor exercise routine.

All-American Colleen Johnson was the first to “chomp” in her 1994 floor routine. It has been a part of all Gator floor routines since 1995.

Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes

Meet 1 Preseason No. 2 Florida at West Virginia Jan. 5, 2018 WVU Coliseum / Morgantown, W.V. Gator gymnastics opened the season with a 195.90-194.425 win Friday evening at West Virginia in front of WVU Coliseum crowd of 2,613. Florida swept each of the meet event titles. Senior Alex McMurtry won the meet’s opening two events – vault (9.90) and uneven bars (9.925). Three Gators shared the balance beam win at 9.90 – Alyssa Baumann, Alicia Boren and Rachel Gowey. Boren took the floor exercise win (9.925) and claimed the all-around with the top season-opening total ever for UF (39.575). Freshman Jazmyn Foberg was an unexpected Gator all-arounder, as she stepped into the beam lineup to replace senior Kennedy Baker. A bout with the flu earlier in the week likely led to Baker’s leg cramps and she was replaced after bars in each of the three remaining events to be safe. Foberg was runner-up at 39.125 – the fifth-highest all-around for a freshman in a UF season opener. Florida had a few bobbles during the evening but finished strong on its closing event. The Gators went six-for-six on beam, with four marks of 9.85 or better. GATOR PERFORMANCE NOTES:

The 39.575 from Boren is the highest all-around total ever by a Gator in a season opener. All-American Ashanée Dickerson posted the previous high of 39.55 in Gainesville in UF’s 2011 season-opening win versus Nebraska. It was the sixth all-around win of Boren’s career.

McMurtry picked up career wins No.19 for vault and No. 16 for uneven bars. Freshman Alyssa Baumann was among Florida’s three-way tie for first on

beam. A three-time member of the U.S. Senior National Team, Baumann deferred enrolling at Florida until fall of 2017 after suffering an elbow injury preparing for the 2016 Olympic Trials after her senior year. Tonight was Baumann’s first competitive performance since the 2017 P&G Championships – a span of 18 months.

Gowey shared her third beam win while Boren collected the fifth of her career. Boren opened each of her three seasons with a beam win – 2016 (9.90), 2017 (9.925), 2018 (9.90)

Boren’s floor win was her sixth as a Gator, with the other five coming last season. Tonight, she opened her floor with a double layout, marking the first time she performed the skill as a collegiate.

THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 32-1. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on first meet with the Gators: “Definitely a roller-coaster ride. However, there was some amazing highs to go along with the lows. We knew coming into this competition no one was going to be perfect. It was a start to get the kinks worked out. “I think there is a lot to take away from this meet – good and bad. Anything that was good, they can take away with a lot of confidence. Anything that wasn’t exactly how they planned it to go, they can take it and work on it for the next meet. This season is a marathon so there will be lots of opportunities to come.” - Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland How did it feel to get the season started? “It felt really good. I was nervous for so long because we were practicing, training and getting ready all fall. It felt really good to get out there and just compete. “We had our ups and downs but we had each other’s backs. We didn’t really think about the mistakes we did have – we just came back strong and brought up the energy. ” – junior All-American Alicia Boren You won with the highest opening all-around total in school history. What did you think of your performance? “I thought I did pretty good for the first meet. I always get really nervous and last night we really focused on believing in yourself and thinking positive thoughts so good things can happen. [Assistant Coach] Adrian [Burde] told us that so I think I applied it pretty well for our first meet.” – junior All-American Alicia Boren

Meet 2 No. 7 Florida vs No. 1 LSU Jan. 12, 2018 Stephen C. O’Connell Center at the Exactech

Arena / Gainesville, Fla. This is a trend the Gator gymnastics team wants to break. Top-ranked Louisiana State edged Florida 197.25 – 197.125 in front of a sellout crowd of 9,661 Friday evening at the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. The margin of victory – 0.125 of a point – marks the fifth time among LSU’s last eight wins against UF (dating back to 2015 season) that 0.150 or less resulted in a Tiger victory. Florida made its Friday Night Heights debut this week and the meet certainly provided great competition for the O’Connell Center crowd and those watching on the SEC Network. The Gators led the meet after the opening rotation, but trailed LSU by 0.175 at the midway point. Florida only could gain a quarter of a tenth on each of the final two rotations, not enough to close the mid-meet gap. Florida senior Alex McMurtry won her second consecutive uneven bars title of the season with a 9.925. Sophomore Rachel Gowey’s 9.95 on balance beam equaled the high mark of the evening. That scored set her collegiate best to give Gowey her second consecutive beam win. LSU’s Lexie Priessman took the vault win at 9.925. Myia Hambrick used a 9.95 to win floor exercise. She also was the all-around winner at 39.55. The win gives the Tigers a key win toward claiming the program’s second consecutive regular-season title. 2017 was the first year the Southeastern Conference awarded a gymnastics champion for regular-season competition. The Tigers took the 2017 title with a 7-0 league record. Florida was runner-up at 5-2. SELLOUT NOTES:

Tonight’s crowd of 9,661 is the first sellout in Gator gymnastics 46-year history. It is the fourth largest crowd for the program, as the O’Connell Center gymnastics capacity was larger before the venue’s renovation prior to the 2017 season.

Three Florida crowds came in at 10,000-plus – 10,855 vs Georgia (1-18-08), 10,651 vs Alabama (2-20-89) and 10,013 vs Georgia (1-24-14).

RECORDS: Florida (1-1, 0-1 SEC), LSU (2-0, 2-0 SEC). THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 69-39. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “This Gator team likes to keep it interesting. We did improve over a point from our last competition. We talked a lot about ‘filling the bag’ this week, which means making everything count – doing everything you can to control the controllables in order to be fulfilled in the end, no matter the outcome. This team did a good job fixing the little things that we needed to fix from the first meet. “We worked together extremely well as a team. We still have a lot of new players this competition, which is a really exciting time for us. Our freshmen did a great job for us, there were a few mistakes, but it is okay, we have a long season ahead of us. Everyone is getting ready for postseason and that is when it counts.” “Most importantly, it doesn’t have to deal with gymnastics; it has to do with coming together as a team. This team was close throughout the entire competition, I saw them arm-in-arm throughout the meet. That was something we missed last meet – the energy was low. But tonight, they brought the energy and Gator Nation really helped in that respect. It was my first sellout, which was exciting. “The team improved on a lot of things that they were able to control. There are still some jitters in competition, but that is going to come with time. Our seasoned veterans did a great job and Slocum had a little hiccup [on vault], but the team was there to pick her up.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland

Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes

Meet 3

No. T6 Florida at No. T6 Kentucky Jan. 19, 2018 Memorial Coliseum / Lexington, Ky. LEXINGTON, Ky. – In the meeting of the collegiate gymnastics teams ranked No. 6, it was Florida with the win Friday in front of a Memorial Coliseum crowd of 5,549. The Gators took the win, 196.325 – 195.95, over Kentucky. The Gators trailed by 0.15 after the opening rotation but owned more than a point lead at the midway point. That lead narrowed to a point after the third rotation. The final rotation was a bit uncomfortable as the Gators had a fall at the beginning and end of the beam lineup, but the Wildcats could not close the gap. Florida’s two Rachels claimed the first two event titles. Sophomore Rachel Gowey used a 9.825 to win her first collegiate uneven bars title. Then senior All-American Rachel Slocum used the Gators’ season-high of 9.925 to claim a share of her first vault title of 2018. Senior All-American Kennedy Baker led Florida on floor exercise to tie for second at 9.90. Gowey collected her second event win of the evening, sharing the beam title at 9.90. Kentucky sophomore Mollie Korth took the all-around at 39.50 and shared the vault win with Slocum (9.925). UK’s Sidney Dukes won floor at 9.95 and shared the beam with teammate Alex Hyland and Gowey at 9.90. GATOR NOTABLES:

Of the 84 all-time meetings between these two programs, this was the first both teams brought a top-10 ranking.

Florida’s season-best vault total (49.375) resulted when five in the Gators’ lineup turned in season-best marks. Slocum’s 9.925 earned her the 11th vault title of her career.

Gowey won two event titles in a single collegiate meet for the first time. She took her first collegiate bars win with a 9.825. She claimed the beam title in each of Florida’s three meets this season and tonight’s win was her fifth beam win as a Gator.

RECORDS: Florida (2-1, 1-1 SEC), Kentucky (4-1, 1-1 SEC). THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 83-1. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “It wasn’t a perfect night. We made a lot of improvements in different areas from our first road meet, which is always good to see. We worked better together as a team; the energy was fantastic. The Gators were really having a good time and that did show in a lot of ways. “Our performance on vault was much better this week. We had a great floor performance. Bars was ok – a few missed opportunities here and there. Beam was a missed opportunity. It was good to see that after Kennedy [Baker] fell during the first routine, we had a freshman [Megan Skaggs] come up second and she nailed her routine. The team was able to keep their confidence up and keep moving through most of the lineup.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland What can you say about Rachel Gowey’s performance this season? She’s been so solid. “It’s been so great to see Rachel’s [Gowey] confidence rise. She came in last year as such a high-level athlete but looked shy in her performances. It’s been amazing to see her this season, performing with confidence. She’s just been solid thus far and I’m looking forward to having this carry forward for the rest of the season.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland This season has been going great for you so far – such a steady performer. “I just mentally changed – became more confident in myself. I started talking to myself more in my head, saying things like ‘You do this every day in practice. Bring it out here and do the same thing’. I’m being more confident, knowing I can hit the routines under pressure.” – sophomore Rachel Gowey. Rachel Slocum nailed her vault tonight. How good was that to see? “For [Rachel] Slocum to be normal again, that was great to see. We took her double layout out on floor. It was something she wasn’t a 100 percent there confidence wise. I think it was affecting her demeanor in competition. So we took that out and did a meet like she did last year. Really think she needed a solid meet under her belt to get her confidence back up and we’ll continue to move forward.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland How about your vault performance tonight? “I was happy with my vault tonight. Obviously, these first two meets weren’t what I had planned for vault, but I definitely think I brought it tonight. It really paid off.” – senior All-American Rachel Slocum. What did you think of the team’s performance? “I think things went pretty well. We kept the energy up and did well. Obviously, there are still some things we want to improve, but we are improving every meet,” – freshman Alyssa Baumann There was a fall before you on beam. What did Coach Rowland say to you before you competed on beam? “She knows I’ve been in high-pressure situations before so she told me to be confident – ‘you know how to do it so you can hit it’. She told me ‘One routine and done. No wobble.’” –freshman Alyssa Baumann

Alex McMurtry is the first to score multiple 10.0s in a single meet. McMurtry’s 10.0 on vault was the nation’s first on the event this season and the third of her career. She earned her first 10.0 on beam (also the nation’s first of 2018) for her ninth 10.0 of her career. McMurtry is now the UF career leader for 10.0s (previous record: Bridget Sloan – eight 10s). McMurtry is the 10th in NCAA history to record a “Gym Slam”. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “We talk about this season being a process and taking care of the things we want to take care of. We want to control the things we are able to control and this team week by week has shown that they have learned from competition and are moving forward. “It has been very rewarding for me to be able to see them to take everything from training and former competitions and be able to put it out on the competition floor. I am super proud, the athletes did a great job of building off one another’s routine. We have been lacking that over the last couple of weeks, but tonight, the momentum kept flowing. “The team fought with a lot of heart and a lot of grit. As much as I love watching their performances, I also love watching the sidelines and seeing how encouraging and uplifting this team is to each other. That is going to carry us through the rest of the season. They are working on what they can control – which is supporting one another.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland

HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “Today’s performance was a big improvement over any of our previous road meets. The team seemed to take a little more confidence on the road with us after our last home meet. We were able to build on each routine, which was great to see. We were resting some and others were coming back from illness so there were some new faces in the lineups, which is always fun to see. “At the beginning, the energy was a little conservative. We were a little quiet on bars. After bars, the energy ramped up and we had a stellar vault. We’ve had some amazing vault this year but balancing the power and the finesse of the landing has been a challenge sometimes. So it was great to see there was improvements shown there. “We had some new faces on floor tonight. Rachel Gowey went out and had a great performance. I thought performances overall on floor were really good. We finished off with a solid beam rotation. We had a miss from Alex [McMurtry] but the rest of the team did really well.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland How did you think the team did tonight? “I think the team did great for an away meet. We brought the energy and kept the momentum from last week. We started a little conservative. Luckily, we picked up the energy as the night went on. It was a fun night and a big away score.” – senior All-American Alex McMurtry How did it feel opening the meet with two big scores? “It felt great. I just try to go out there and hit my routines. It was a little cold so you try to get warmed up and get started. Bars gave me a great start and that brought me to vault. I was really going for that landing. I’m really happy I got it tonight.” – senior All-American Alex McMurtry How did you feel out there tonight? “Confident and confident in the team. I think the team did a really good job. We have more to give and more to show. We are going to get back to the gym and work on that but considering the circumstances of this week, I think we did well tonight. Some were under the weather this week, resulting in some who were in and out of practice. We just had each other’s back tonight.” – junior All-America Alicia Boren How did it feel to get the all-around win? “It felt really good. I’ve been definitely working on doing what I practice out on the competition floor. I was struggling with that a little bit so far [this season]. I was able to do that tonight on floor and beam so if felt really good.” – junior All-America Alicia Boren DOWN A GATOR Florida sophomore Sierra Alexander did not make the trip to Auburn, as she suffered an Achilles injury in Wednesday’s practice. Alexander was part of Florida’s vault lineup in Florida’s opening four meets and owned a season-best of 9.85. The injury will sideline her for the rest of the season. “We are looking forward to having Sierra back out on the competition floor this season, but in a different role.” – UF Head Coach Jenny Rowland

Wow, I think everyone is on a bit of a high right now. We had some struggles this week with some nagging injuries and illnesses. Even with new lineups, the team accepted the challenge and handled it with a lot of grace. “In our team meeting before the competition, we talked about ‘filling our bag.’ That is something we have been talking about a lot and everyone came forward and said something that they wanted to work on today. We had a lot of confidence and we had a lot of people saying that they believed in themselves. There were a few individual goals set; some said that they did not want to be perfect; they wanted to be great tonight. All of those qualities that we have been working on in the gym shined through tonight and I am really proud of this team.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland On her perfect 10: “After my first pass, I kind of just could feel it. I was into it. The rest was easy. It felt really, really good to get a 10 at the end.” – senior All-American Kennedy Baker

ATHENS, Ga. – No. 5 Florida gymnastics took a 196.95 – 196.125 win Friday at No. 14 Georgia in front of a sold-out Stegeman Coliseum crowd of 10,017. The Gators opened the meet by equaling their season-best uneven bars team total of 49.50. Two Gators equaled their 2018 uneven bars best Friday – Amelia Hundley (9.925) and Alex McMurtry’s winning score of 9.975. The Gators’ final three vaulters all scored a 9.9 or better – Rachel Slocum (9.90), McMurtry (9.925) and Alicia Boren won the event by equaling her collegiate best of 9.95. McMurtry made her season floor debut Friday, posting a 9.925. She was one of three Gators with floor marks of 9.9 or better. Alyssa Baumann scored a 9.90 and Slocum added the double layout back in for her opening pass, earning a collegiate-best 9.95 to take second overall. The Gators counted a fall in their beam total Friday. With the Stegeman Coliseum crowd cheering a floor 10.0, Baumann was calm and steady on beam as she turned in the evening’s winning mark of 9.90. Sophomore Amelia Hundley also posted a season-high 9.875. Freshman Nicole Webb, making her first appearance in the Gator lineup, turned in 9.725. Boren shared the all-around win with Georgia’s Sydney Snead at 39.475. Snead won the floor with a 10.0 – the nation’s fourth perfect floor mark of the season. GATOR NOTABLES:

Boren equaled her collegiate best of 9.95 for the sixth time to claim her first vault title of 2018. It is her top vault mark of the season.

McMurtry was nearly perfect with her 9.975 on bars. It is the second time this season – and third time of career – she’s earned a 9.975 on bars. The mark gave her the 20th bars win of her career.

Baumann wins her second beam title Friday. She placed first or second in four beam competitions this season.

Boren shares her third consecutive all-around title and now owns four wins this season. She’s competed as an all-arounder in 34 consecutive meets and tonight’s total marks the 30th time her total was above 39.15.

Senior All-American Kennedy Baker sat out Friday’s meet as she recovers from the flu. Eight season- or collegiate-best marks by five different Gators were turned in Friday

RECORDS: Florida (6-1, 4-1 SEC), Georgia (3-4, 3-3 SEC). THE SERIES: Georgia leads the series 92-56-1. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “The team had three solid events tonight. Even beam as the last event in a tough environment, what they were doing looked great. The little details that we’ve been working on are being fixed, landings are being fixed as well as executive and presentation. Really proud of them overall. “I feel we are still moving in the right direction. We had to count a fall tonight, but on the other events, we showed big strides. Beam is an event we are very solid on and we will work out those little bumps. Really the performances overall, the confidence, the grace and the stepping up – it is really good to see this team continue to move forward.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland The lineups were shuffled a bit tonight. How did the new performers do? “As a whole, we had several new faces in tonight and shuffled different people into the lineup. Everyone on the team felt and knew they were going to be successful. These three hadn’t competed a lot in the lineups they appeared in tonight. Alyssa [Baumann] did a fantastic job starting us off on vault. She really set the tone. [Rachel] Gowey went back in on floor. She’s competed a couple of times this season and did a fabulous job – nice solid routine. Then Nicole Webb, a freshman who had not yet been in the lineup this season. She really rocked her beam routine. She was a little hesitant as she knew there were two falls ahead of her and it was a tense situation, but she handled it very well and with a lot of grace.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland There was a fall before you on beam and while performing, the crowd celebrated a floor 10.0. What were you thinking while you performed? “Before I got on beam, I knew someone had fallen, so there was a little bit of pressure there. But I knew I could hit my routine. When I was performing and someone had a perfect 10.0, I couldn’t hear myself think. I’ve never before performed with a crowd cheering like that. In elite, you can hear a pin drop. I just tried to tell myself it [the cheering] was for me and to stay calm and confident.” – freshman Alyssa Baumann Alex McMurtry made her first appearance on floor tonight. How did that performance go? “It was great to see Alex back out in the floor lineup. I think I can count on one hand how many floor routines she’s actually trained. She did a fabulous job and to come away with that confidence and knowing that you’ve got at least that many more until post-season is really just setting her up for a lot of success.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland On bringing back the double layout opening pass: “I’ve been practicing it in the gym. Last week and this past week, they’ve been very, very good – some of the best I’ve ever done. I was ready to pull it out and I’m really glad I did. I just did what I was practicing and it was pretty good.” – senior All-American Rachel Slocum

Arena / Gainesville, Fla. GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida’s team win Friday in the Gators Link to Pink was dampened by an injury to the meet’s final competitor, senior All-American Kennedy Baker. Baker, who earned her third career 10.0 on floor exercise in her last performance in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Feb. 9, tore her Achilles tendon on her second tumbling pass and was carried off the floor exercise mat by UF medical staff. She will have surgery next week to repair the season-ending injury. The Gators took the win tonight at 197.725, which stands as the nation’s 10th highest mark of 2018. Arkansas turned in its high road score of 196.875. Three of the nation’s top 10 team totals now belong to Florida – No. 2 198.15 (Jan. 26), No. 8 197.85 (Feb. 9) and No. 10 197.725 (Feb. 23). The Gators swept the event titles Friday, including junior All-American Alicia Boren taking her fourth consecutive all-around win at 39.525. Boren also won floor at 9.95. Alex McMurtry shared each of the meet’s opening three events with a Gator named Rachel. She and fellow senior All-American Rachel Slocum tied at 9.95 for the vault win. Florida’s other Rachel, sophomore Rachel Gowey, shared the uneven bars (9.925) and balance beam (9.95) titles with McMurtry. GATOR NOTABLES:

Seven Gators turned in 12 season and/or collegiate best marks Friday Florida opened the meet with season-best team totals of 49.525 on vault and bars McMurtry’s three wins tonight give her 61 event titles for her career. She is one of eight in

the program’s 46-year history to total 60 or more event titles. Boren now has 10 all-around wins. She is one of 12 in UF’s history to win 10 or more all-

around titles. Slocum posted her season-best vault (9.95) on her 22nd birthday. The O’Connell Center

crowd of more than 8,000 sang “Happy Birthday” to her after the first rotation Gowey claimed two meet event titles for the second time this season, as she also won bars

and beam at Kentucky. Her 9.95 on beam equaled her collegiate best set versus LSU on Jan. 12.

Tonight’s crowd of 8,321 stands as No. 12 in the program’s history.

RECORDS: Florida (7-1, 5-1 SEC), Arkansas (2-8, 2-5 SEC). THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 40-3. ABOUT LINK TO PINK: Tonight was the 12th Annual Gators Link to Pink meet. These meets are part of a Southeastern Conference initiative and most of the league’s teams will participate in a “pink” meet this season. Team colors are set aside as the teams wear pink to show their support for the breast cancer fight. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “Overall this team did a fantastic job tonight. Before we started the competition, our Gator of the Day was Kennedy [Baker] and she talked about family with this team. She has their backs and they have her back. That’s the core of this team this year, of these athletes this year. They did a fantastic job of building off of each other all the way through from beginning to end tonight – performance after performance. The little details we have been working on in practice really shone through tonight, so that was really awesome to see. “We have been working on rhythm. These athletes are spectacular and perfectionists, so there are times when we have to dial it back and distract them from things other than what they have to do perfectly and rhythm is a good way to do that. They did a fabulous job supporting each other, executing and having fun out on the competition floor. We are very thankful to have that support from Gator Nation tonight.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland On her performance tonight: “I thought I had a really good night. I definitely started not as well as I could have and wanted to on vault, but Jenny said ‘breathe. Take it one thing at a time, and put a smile on your face. Get ready for the next event because it’s over.’ And I tried my best to do that. I did okay on bars, and I did a better job of doing it on beam, and then I got to floor.” – junior All-American Alicia Boren On her performance tonight: “Starting on vault is always a great start for us. So I was definitely hyped by everyone in front of me, and I just went up there and did my job that I was supposed to do. Then rounding out on floor felt really nice. It was great. Everyone’s energy was really high.” – senior All-American Rachel Slocum On her performance tonight: “I think I just went into the night with confidence in myself knowing I had a really good week in the gym. Just working on the details, the dismounts, the sticks and the presentation of my routine. So I think going out tonight and having a lot of confidence in myself and knowing that we’re home, and we have the Gator Nation behind us was really cool.” – sophomore Rachel Gowey

Meet 9

No. 5 Florida at No. 20 Missouri March 2, 2018 Hearnes Center / Columbia, Mo. COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 5 Florida gymnastics lost 196.925 – 196.70 at No. 20 Missouri Friday evening in front of a Hearnes Center crowd of 1,811. It was the first loss in the 23 all-time meetings between the two programs. About the Meet: The Gators started Friday’s competition with a solid uneven bars rotation. Alex McMurtry took the win at 9.95. Sophomore Rachel Gowey took third at 9.90. McMurtry also took the event title on the Gators’ next rotation with her vault mark of 9.925. Marks of 9.925 from Alicia Boren and Alyssa Baumann led the Gators on floor to share the evening’s event title. The Gators were forced to count a fall on floor exercise when Gowey and Jazmyn Foberg both had trouble on their second tumbling passes. The Gators went into the final rotation trailing the Tigers by 0.075. No falls were recorded in UF’s balance beam rotation, but enough wobbles and breaks dinged the Gators’ scoring potential on the final rotation. Florida’s beam scores couldn’t keep up with Missouri’s floor marks, as no score lower than 9.825 counted toward the Tigers’ floor total. McMurtry anchored Florida’s beam lineup with the evening’s winning mark of 9.95. Boren was second on beam at 9.925. Boren claimed her fifth consecutive all-around at 39.50. GATOR NOTABLES:

For the second consecutive meet, McMurtry won three event titles. Tonight’s wins ups her season totals to seven for bars, six for vault and three on beam.

Boren now has won five consecutive all-around and six for 2018. Two Gators equaled their collegiate-best floor marks Friday – Baumann (9.925) and senior

Grace McLaughlin (9.90). It was McLaughlin’s first appearance on floor this season. Florida was without two lineup regulars Friday. Kennedy Baker underwent surgery Monday

to repair her torn Achilles tendon suffered in the Feb. 23 dual versus Arkansas. Rachel Slocum was left behind in Gainesville due to a virus.

RECORDS: Florida (7-2, 5-2 SEC), Missouri (6-6, 2-5 SEC). THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 22-1. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Meet Overview: “There were some great performances tonight, but also some missed opportunities. I don’t think we took advantage of what we had going on from the second event going into the third event. We had a few new competitors back in the lineup and it hit us a little bit tonight. Those mistakes are not going to happen again.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland You won each event you competed in tonight. What did you think of your performance? “I did well, but it is a team sport. I wanted to do well for the team and help the team score. It was tricky tonight due to the holes without Kenn [Baker] and [Rachel] Slocum so my personal goal tonight was to be loud for the team. I’m excited to push my team.” – senior All-American Alex McMurtry Alicia Boren’s sixth all-around win of the season “An important part is the ‘why’ they do what they do. Alicia said ‘I got this for the team’ and the team knows she is going to deliver day in and day out. That’s how she trains and that’s how she’s been competing. Just really proud of her consistency, her belief in herself and her perseverance to compete in the all-around week after week.”– Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland What will the team take from this loss? “I think we need to take our mistakes and bring them into the gym. There are little kinks here and there are some areas we can gain more confidence in ourselves. With Kennedy [Baker] being out with an injury and [Rachel] Slocum being sick, that did bring our confidence down a bit. We need to believe in each other. We all have a job to do and we know we are capable of doing that job. We’ll be ready for next week.”– junior All-American Alicia Boren “This meet wasn’t our best. We are down a couple of team members and I think it was a good reality check. We will use this to fuel the fire going forward.” – freshman Alyssa Baumann “It is easy to get a little down after a loss. I thought we kept it together and the team showed a lot of fight. There were some performances we weren’t thrilled with, but we saw each other fight through every rotation. Even on beam, we had some wobbles, but everyone stayed on. There are mistakes we can definitely improve upon. It will light the fire when we get back into the gym.” – senior All-American Alex McMurtry You matched your collegiate best on floor. How did it go for you? “I thought it went well. It was a little bit stressful going after two falls so I tried to do what I do in the gym [in training] and bring some energy to it. I was happy with how it went.” – freshman Alyssa Baumann

Meet 10 No. 5 Florida vs No. 13 Nebraska March 9, 2018 Stephen C. O’Connell Center at the Exactech

Arena / Gainesville, Fla. GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Florida gymnastics closed home action with a 197.925 – 196.70 win Friday evening over No. 13 Nebraska in front of 5,648 at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. It was a night of records mixed with a few tears. Friday’s meet was the final home appearance for Florida’s four-member senior class – Kennedy Baker, Grace McLaughlin, Alex McMurtry and Rachel Slocum. They, along with team manager Casey McLaughlin, were honored in a post-meet ceremony. Some notables about this class: ● Baker, McLaughlin and McMurtry part of Florida's 2015 NCAA and 2016 SEC Championship teams ● Turned in a 49-13 regular season record since 2015 ● 18-2 in home action ● Performed 423 routines as part of the Gators' competitive lineup, with 201 of those scored a 9.9 or better Gator Nation also helped close out home action by setting a season average attendance record of 8,304, breaking the previous record of 7,433 set in 2016. Five Wins for McMurtry McMurtry swept the individual honors in her final O’Connell Center appearance, including taking the all-around at 39.825. That total equals Florida’s record set by Alaina Johnson in 2014 and equaled later that season by Bridget Sloan. She opened the meet with a 9.95 for her Yurchenko double vault. That mark shared the evening’s event title with Nebraska’s Sienna Crouse. McMurtry then posted a nearly perfect 9.975 on bars. It was her third 9.975 of her last six bar routines. McMurtry used the same mark to win the beam. It was her first 9.975 on beam of her career. She did post a 10.0 on the event earlier this season. She closed with a 9.925 on floor to equal her season best. The last Gator to claim each of the five event titles was Gator All-American Ashanée Dickerson at LSU in 2011. GATOR NOTABLES:

RECORDS: Florida (8-2, 5-2 SEC), Nebraska (11-3, 5-0 Big Ten). THE SERIES: Florida leads the series 23-10. HEAR FROM THE GATORS: Thoughts on tonight’s meet: “This is a night the entire team looks forward to. It is the meet that is the most emotional over the course of the entire season. It was a great finish to the regular season. This is something this team has been doing every day in practice and tonight they brought it out to the competition floor. It was an exclamation point to end the regular season and a good way to go into post season. “We are very excited that we have a week off. We will learn from tonight and moving forward. – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland On what you will take from tonight: “I will remember the atmosphere. When you look into the stands, everyone is pushing for you to win and they want you to do your best. The atmosphere and emotion of everyone rooting for you is the most memorable thing for me.” – senior All-American Rachel Slocum. “I think we have the best fans in the country. You look around and see every single person cheering and rooting for you. Then you look to the side and see your team wanting you to do your best. That [atmosphere] is just better at the University of Florida. Competing in the O’Dome is unmatched.” – senior All-American Kennedy Baker “Honestly, the moment I’m going to remember is praying before the meet started, when the national anthem is sung. I always say a prayer and thank God that I have the talent to bring joy to people and Gator fans. It is the fans who make it worthwhile. You are doing it for the fans. It just has been an awesome experience and a blessing to touch so many people’s lives. That’s what I’ll remember about tonight and my four years here.” – senior All-American Alex McMurtry

Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes

Meet 11

No. 5 Florida at SEC Championships March 24, 2018 Chaifetz Arena / St. Louis, Mo. ST. LOUIS, Mo. .- The Gator gymnasts led all teams on three events Saturday at the Southeastern Conference Championships. Unfortunately, Florida’s performance on floor exercise ended their pursuit for their 11th team title. LSU made it a sweep of the 2018 SEC gymnastics titles Saturday with its win in front of 6,073 at the Chaifetz Arena. Earlier this month, LSU claimed its second consecutive SEC regular-season title with a 7-0 league record. Tonight, LSU claimed its third SEC Championship – and second consecutive - with a score of 197.40. Alabama took second (196.975) and the Gators were third at 196.825. It was a disappointing ending for UF after leading the meet at the midway point. Falls from two consecutive Gator floor performers – freshman Megan Skaggs and defending SEC all-around champion Alex McMurtry – forced the team to count a miss in its final floor total. “I think the Gators realized the potential is there,” Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland said. “They are one of the best teams in the country They will build from it, learn from this competition, move forward and rock it for the rest of the season.” Other team scores Saturday included Kentucky (196.55), Arkansas (196.425), Georgia (196.35), Missouri (196.10) and Auburn (195.65). Gators Event Winners: A Gator took at least a share of every apparatus title. Two titles came from nearly perfect marks of 9.975 – McMurtry on vault and freshman Alyssa Baumann on balance beam. McMurtry also won bars at 9.95. Junior Alicia Boren shared the evening’s floor exercise win at 9.90. She was second in the all-around, as LSU’s Sarah Finnegan edged her by the slightest of margins, 39.50 – 39.475, for the title. Four Gators posted or equaled collegiate or season-best marks Saturday: Alyssa Baumann 9.975 Beam Collegiate best Alicia Boren 9.925 Beam Season best Amelia Hundley 9.90 Vault Collegiate best Megan Skaggs 9.90 Beam Collegiate best Florida’s team totals for vault (49.475) and beam (49.55) led all teams Saturday and UF shared the high team total on bars (49.40) with LSU. McMurtry Joins Select Group With her two event titles Saturday, McMurtry is now one of six in the 38-year history of the SEC Championships to claim at least one event title in four consecutive seasons. The last to reach that milestone was her 2015 Gator teammate Kytra Hunter. She is the third in league history (joining Jenny Hansen of Kentucky and Karin Lichey of Georgia) and first since 1999 to win each of the five apparatus titles (all-around, vault, bars, beam, floor) over the course of her collegiate career. McMurtry’s six career SEC event titles is second for the Gators’ behind Hunter’s seven. Gator Great Bridget Sloan also claimed six SEC titles. Quoting the Gators: Florida’s performance tonight: “We had a lot of amazing routines tonight. There were some well-executed and very confident performances. We fell short on one event. It certainly wasn’t the floor performance we came here to do. Floor is an event we are very good at, but tonight wasn’t our night for that event. I was proud how the team finished the meet with a strong vault performance. Overall, on vault, bars and beam, our landings were key tonight. They’ve been working on those details in the practice gym and it paid off tonight. We just have one more event to put together and then it’s going to be gold.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland Going forward: “How we react and how we handle this situation going forward is what is going to define us. I’m completely confident that this team is going to go back to the practice gym and keep grinding. They will take it a day at a time, one meet at a time and one routine at a time. We’ve got three more meets to go and the Gators are going to finish strong.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland The mood of the Gators after tonight’s meet: “The team was somber after the meet. They knew they had a chance to win tonight. They came in hungry and ready, but unfortunately, a couple of falters brought the mood down. They finished very strong on vault. I was very happy with that because the competition wasn’t over. It shows they are resilient. They will stay together and keep grinding. We are better together.” – Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland
