WroteIt?

“An animal’s actions are concerned with its future and the future of its young, but only man imagines the future: the beaver’s dam is extended in a time-realm, but the planted tree is rooted in the world of time, and he who plants the first tree is he who will expect the Messiah.”

This quote is from Martin Buber. A Jewish philosopher, Buber spent his life immersed in the study of dialogue between people (“I-It” and “I-Thou”) as well as between people and God (“I-eternal Thou). For Buber, what happens between person to person and person to God is the most meaningful interaction of human life, worthy of our attention and intention.

This week’s quote:

“When you open the book containing the Gospels and read or hear how Christ comes here or there, or how someone is brought to him, you should therein perceive the sermon or the gospel through which he is coming to you, or you are being brought to him. For the proclamation of the Gospel is nothing else than Christ coming to us, or we being brought to him. When you see how he works, however, and how he helps everyone to whom he comes or who is brought to him, then rest assured that faith is accomplishing this in you and that he is offering your soul exactly the same sort of help and favor through the Gospel. If you pause here and let him do you good, that is, if you believe that he benefits and helps you, then you really have it. Then Christ is yours, presented to you as a gift. After that it is necessary that you turn this into an example and deal with your neighbor in the very same way, be given also to him as a gift and an example.”

Who said it? Who wrote it? Look for the answer in the next newsletter.

forPreschoolersandChildren As you may know big changes have been happening as we grow to meet the needs of our community. But, do you know what those changes are? First, we will be offering a full-day Summer Camp for Toddlers through 5th GRADE! Beginning June 15th there will be 2-week sessions offered all summer long. You can pick and choose which sessions would be best suited for your family’s needs and schedule. Kids will enjoy games, sports, field trips, projects, arts and crafts, cooking projects and more. Kids can also look forward to special visitors like a wild life expert, soccer coach, dance instructor, and karate instructor. Second, we now offer full-day Preschool to children 6 weeks-4 years old. We will also be continuing the part-time Preschool for ages 2-4. We are pleased to offer both full-time and part-time preschool where students will enjoy the benefits of curriculum and structure as well as time to play with peers. Our teachers are CPR, AED and First-Aid Certified and MAT trained. Call or email Stacy Pierce for more information 373-4402, [email protected].
