3 QUICK TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE ON THE WORKSITEWhen you're working in a team, worksite safety is usually taken care of
by a strict list of rules and procedures. But, what do you do when you're
on your own? When you're going solo, you face much bigger risks than
when you have workmates to watch you back. After all, if something
goes wrong, there's no one around to pick you up. Here are three quick
tips to improve worksite safety.
1. CONDUCT A THOROUGH RISK ASSESSMENTBefore jumping onto a roof, or scaling a ladder, it's crucial to figure out
exactly what risks are involved. Write down a list of all the things that

Take into consideration the length of the job, your skill level, what
modes of communication are available, where the work is located
and what it involves.
2. DETERMINE YOUR ABILITIESBe realistic, when it comes to determining what you're capable of. It's especially
important to think about your health. Do you suer from any conditions that might
compromise your worksite safety? Do you take any medications?
3. UNDERTAKE NECESSARY TRAININGIn many scenarios, the risks will be drastically reduced if your training is adequate.
So, before taking on a job on your own, find out what skills you'll need, and take the
time to educate yourself. If you're trained for the job, you'll be in a much better
