*ELECTROCHEMICAL CELL

The electrochemical cell is designed for in-situ study of the structural changes of battery materials by means of X-ray diffraction. The cell can be easily mounted in a standard Argon-filled glove box (to be provided by the user) by stacking the positive electrode, the separator soaked with electrolyte, and the negative electrode layer by layer in-between two X-ray transparent Beryllium windows. The electrode material can be in powder, dried slurry, or plastic film form. The electrochemical cell fits to the rotation sample holder of the D8 ADVANCE and D8 DISCOVER, and is used in reflection geometry.

Important note:Because of the experimental nature of the electrochemical cell, no guarantee can be given about its effectiveness. In addition, the buyer takes full responsibility for any risk or damage that may result from using, testing or handling the electrochemical cell.

Important note:The buyer agrees to make reference to the electrochemical cell in any publication as follows:“The electrochemical cell used for these experiments is described in Journal of Electrochemical Society, 157 (5) A606-A610 (2010)”

Technical Features:Stainless steel housingX-ray transparent Beryllium window acting as a metallic current collector

Required for operation:Cycling potentiostat to charge and discharge battery samples

IMPORTANT REMARKS: This cell concept is proposed to VUB as a commodity, explicitely without any liability on Bruker's end.The warranty of the cell concept will be covered by the manufacturer (Univ Amiens)Note this is only the cell, without potentiostat/galvanostat.

Subject: Letter of motivation to support

research Groups

Dear Sir/ Madam,

the Hercules infrastructure Proposal by ETEC/MACH

With this letter we would like to recommend the Hercules Medium Large Scale Research

lnfrastructure proposal 'System for Preparation, Assembly and Characterization (PAC) for Rechargeable

Energy Storage Cells' put fonruard by the departments ETEC and MACH at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

We have been collaborating with VUB for more than 2 years and they are one of our prime collaborators

when it comes to modelling activities. We are involved in their Battle (SBO) and LBATTS (Tetra) project

and have a research contract project in the field of electro-thermal characterization and modelling with

VUB also. JSR Micro believes that ETEC/MACH departments have the required competences and

expertise in the following research topics related to energy storage systems:

Further with the availability of the proposed half-cell making infrastructure and material analysis

equipment they would surely be ideal partner for us in future endeavours involving new energy storage

materials which will be developed in our company. I would confirm that the proposal given by them is fully

supported by JSR Micro.

Technology Manager

Energy & Performance Materials

Yours sincerely,
