Illuminated areas show areas of the brain responsible for the processing of changes in the surrounding space. Yellow circle is the region called planum temporale. Las áreas iluminadas indican activación relacionada con percepciones de cambio espacial. El círculo amarillo muestra la región planum temporale. (Foto: The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)

The brain process, in a no conscience action, the origin of specific sounds on this area. This is not a voluntary action. De esta forma, los investigadores han llegado a la conclusión de que sus experimentos sugieren que las neuronas en esta región ejercen la función, de manera no intencionada ni conectada a una atención consciente, de localizar en el entorno las fuentes de sonido

YES, but the type of information and the way of how the information of perceived

will not be the same……. SI, siempre y cuando se entienda que ver con los ojos no va a generar el mismo tipo de información en ambos casos….. No sabemos cómo se ve….

How can we use the technology then? (to see with the ears)

- Adquiring the 3D infromation by using Electronics

- Representing the 3D world information by using sounds

Can we create an smart and portable system? Able to be easily use

EYE2021 is going to be an SME oriented to assist with technology to totally and partially blind people. EYE21 is going to be the first product in the market

able to transform 3D information into audio wit the intention to be used by blind people helping them to perceive better the environment.

What about the future?

A new paper from MIT neuroscientists, in collaboration with Alvaro Pascual-Leone at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, offers evidence that it is easier to rewire the brain early in life. The researchers found that a small part of the brain’s visual cortex that processes motion became reorganized only in the brains of subjects who had been born blind, not those who became blind later in life. http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2010/brain-blindness-1021.html

How to see? What to see?

What will be the next steep?
