To eliminate the risk of burns or fire by reachingover heated surface units, cabinet storage spacelocated above the surface units should be avoided.If cabinet storage is to be provided, the risk can bereduced by installing a range hood that projectshorizontally a minimum of 5 inches beyond thebottom of the cabinets.
Read electrical and carpentry instructions.
Proper installation is your responsibility. A qualifiedtechnician must install this range. Make sure youhave everything necessary for correct installation. Itis the customer's responsibility to make sure thatthe countertop has been properly prepared and thatthe installation clearances specified on themodel/serial rating plate are met. The model/serialrating plate is located on the oven frame behind theoven drawer.
Check location where range will be installed. Therange should be located for convenient use in thekitchen. Recessed installations must providecomplete enclosure of the sides and rear of range.
All openings in the wall or floor where range is to beinstalled must be sealed.
IMPORTANT: Some cabinet and building materialsare not designed to withstand the heat produced bythe oven for baking and self-cleaning. Check withyour builder or cabinet supplier to make sure thatthe materials used will not discolor, delaminate orsustain other damage.

It is recommendedthat a separate circuit serving only this range beprovided.Electronic ignition systems operate within widevoltage limits, but proper ground and polarity arenecessary. In addition to checking that the outletprovides 120=volt power and is correctly grounded,the outlet must be checked by a qualifiedelectrician to see if it is wired with correct polarity.The wiring diagram is included in the literaturepackage. Recommended ground method

Take 4 cardboard corner posts from thecarton. Stack one cardboard corner poston top of another. Repeat with the other
two corner posts. Place corner posts lengthwise onthe floor in back of range so corner posts willsupport outer side edges of range as shown.
Excessive Weight HazardUse two or more people to move and installrange.Faiture to follow this instruction can resultin back or other injury.
Firmly grasp the range and gently lay it onits back on the cardboard corner posts.
Pull cardboard bottom and shipping basefirmly to remove.

edge is against the rear wall, molding or cabinet.If countertop is deeper than 25 inches (63.5 cm),measure and mark a distance 25 inches (63.5 cm)in from front of countertop opening and aligntemplate with mark (or subtract 25 inches (63.5cm) from the countertop depth and add thedifference to the corresponding dimension).
Move range close to cabinet opening.Remove cardboard or hardboard fromunder range.
Press on front of storage drawer andrelease to open. Pull open to first stopposition. Lift front of drawer to clear
white wheels in drawer guides. Remove drawerand set it aside on a protected surface.
Use an adjustable wrench to loosen theleveling legs 1zl/2 turns.
Place cardboard or hardboard in front ofrange. Stand range back up ontocardboard or hardboard.
Rear vent mustbe installed.
If you have a slideqn range, remove theoutside screws from rear trim on range.Use screws to attach rear vent to range.
Check that the type of gas supply iscorrect for this range. (See model/serialrating plate.)
If connecting to LR Gas, follow directions inConversion Kit included in your literature package.
If connecting to Natural gas, go to Step 9.

If countertop is not flush to the side of the cabinetopening, align the left side of the template to allowfor the countertop overhang. Tape the freestandingrange anti-tip bracket template in place.
Contact a qualified floor covering installer for thebest procedure of drilling mounting holes throughyour type floor covering.
Before moving, slide range onto cardboard orhardboard.
Carefully move range into final position.Look under range (a flashlight may beneeded) to check that left rear leveling
leg is engaged in the anti-tip bracket. If leveling legis not properly engaged, remove and reposition theanti-tip bracket to ensure that the leveling leg fitsproperly in the anti-tip bracket.
Place rack in oven. Place level on rack,first side to side; then front to back. Ifthe range is not level, pull range
forward until the rear leveling leg is removed fromthe anti-tip bracket. Adjust the leveling legs up ordown. Then slide range back into position. Checkthat leveling leg is engaged in anti-tip bracket.
NOTE: Oven must be level for satisfactory bakingconditions.
To mount anti4ip bracket to wood floor,use the anti-tip bracket template to
E mark where to drill mounting holes. Usea drill with a 1/8" (0.3 cm) drill bit to drill the twomounting holes. Remove template from floor.
To mount anti-tip bracket to concrete or ceramicfloor, use the anti4ip bracket template to markwhere to drill mounting holes. Use a drill with a3/16" (0.5 cm) masonry drill bit to drill the twoholes. Remove template from floor. Tap plasticanchors into mounting holes in floor with hammer.

i Open the shutoff valve in the gassupply line. Wait a few minutes for them gas to move through the gas line.
Test for gas leaks. Leak testing shaN beconducted according to the followingm instructions:Test aN connections by
brushing on an approved non-corrosive leak-detection solution. Bubbles win show a leak.Correct any leak found.
I2 3 ] Adjust the height of top burnerm flames (some models)
The cooktop LOW burner flame should be a steadyblue flame approximately 1/4" (0.64 cm) high. Itcan be adjusted using the adjustment screw in thecenter of the valve stem. The valve stem is locateddirectly underneath the control knob.
if the LOW flame needs to be adjusted:a. Remove the control knob.
b. Hold the knob stem with a pair of pliers. Usea smaN flat-head screwdriver toturn the screw located in thecenter of the control knob stemuntil the flame is the propersize.
c. Replace the control adjustmentknob. screw,
d. Test the flame byturning the control from"LO" to "HI", checking theflame at each setting.
Top burner flame appearance:

Remove the oven rack. Remove theoven bottom and place it on a protectedsurface.
Push "CANCEL/OFF" pad. Insert ovenbottom tabs into slots in oven burnerarea. Check that tabs are correctly
placed in slots. If the oven bottom is not positionedproperly, poor baking performance could occur.Replace oven racks.
Check the operation of theoven broil burner. Close the oven door.Press the "BROIL:' pad. "500°F '' will
appear in the temperature display. Press the "Start"pad. The oven broil burner should light in 50 to 60seconds. This delay is normal. The oven safetyvalve requires a certain time before it will open andaNow gas to flow. The first time broil burner islighted, it may take longer to Nght because of air ingas line. The first few times burner is used sparksmay appear. This is normal.NOTL_:Oven door must be shut for broil burner tooperate.
Look through oven window to checkbroil burner for proper flame. The flameshould have a uniform, light blue
appearance around the burner surface. No yellowtips, blowing or lifting of the flame should occur.NOTE: The first few times the broil burner is used,yellow sparks may appear in the flame. This isnormal and will stop after burner has been used afew times.
Press the "CANCEL/OFF" pad. If thebroil burner flame needs adjustment,contact your KitchenAid dealer or
authorized service company for assistance.

Electronic Ignition System EInitial lighting and gas flame adjustments.
Cooktop and oven burners use electronic ignitorsin place of standing pilots. When the cooktopcontrol knob is turned to the "LITE" position, thesystem creates a spark to light the burner. Thissparking continues as long as the control knob isturned to "LITE".
When the oven control is turned to the desiredsetting, a glow bar heats up bright orange andignites the gas. No sparking occurs and the glowbar remains on while the burners operate.
I Check the OFFoperation ofm the cooktop
burners. Push in andturn each control knobto the "LITE" position.The flame should lightwithin 4 seconds. Thefirst time a burner islighted it may takelonger than 4 secondsto light because of air in '_o _,4_9LOgas line.
If burners do not light properly> turn cooktop controlknob to the "OFF" position. Check that the powersupply cord is plugged in and the circuit breaker orfuse has not blown. Check that the gas shutoffvalves are set to the "OPEN" position. Repeat Step22. If a burner does not light at this point, contactyour KitchenAid dealer or authorized servicecompany for assistance.

If range does notoperate...• Check that the circuit breaker is not tripped or the
house fuse blown.
• Check that the power supply cord is plugged intothe wall receptacle.
• Check that the gas supply is on.
• Check that the regulator shutoff valve is in the"OPEN" position.
For cleaning andmaintenance...If removing the range is ever necessary forcleaning or maintenance, shut off gas supply torange. Disconnect the gas and electrical supply
If the gas or electrical supply is inaccessible, liftthe range slightly at the front and pull the range outaway from the wall. Pull the range out only as faras necessary to disconnect the gas and electricalsupply lines.
Remove the range to complete cleaning ormaintenance.
Move range back into operating position. Removedrawer. Level the range. Connect gas line to rangeand check for leaks. Plug in range or reconnectpower. Make sure that left rear leveling leg isengaged in the anti-tip bracket.

Moving the range...

Connect anti-tip bracket to rear range foot.
Reconnect the anti-tip bracket, if the rangeis moved.

When moving range, slide range onto cardboard orhardboard to prevent damaging the floor covering.If removing the range is necessary for cleaning ormaintenance:
1. Remove the storage drawer.
2. Shut off the gas supply to the range.
3. Slide range forward, away from the wall, just farenough to disconnect the gas and electric supplylines.
4. Slide range forward to complete cleaning ormaintenance.

5. Making sure the anti=tip bracket is installed:
• Look for the anti=tip bracket securely attachedto floor.
• Slide range back so rear range foot is underanti=tip bracket.
6. Check that range is level.
7. Reconnect gas line to range and check forleaks.
8. Plug in range or reconnect power.
9. Reinstall storage drawer.
