Life’sQuestions

Atthebeginningofanyjourney, youmustsetoutintherightdirectiontoreach your destination. That’s why this study of Life Principles startswithGod’swonderfulpurpose forbringingyou into theworld. To findthe life that’s worth living, youmust understand that you’re a special,belovedpersonandthatGodhasaspecific,wonderfulplanforyouthatwillgiveyouallthelove,fulfillment,significance,andpowerthatyou’relookingfor(seeRom.12:2).

HaveyouwonderedwhatmotivatedGodtodesign theuniverseorwhyHe created you? It was love—pure and simple. Even before thebeginning of the world, God loved you and wanted to have a close, personalrelationshipwithyouthatwouldbringgreatjoy, fulfillment, andpower to your life (see Eph. 1:4). Therefore, Life Principle 1 is:Ourintimacy with God—His highest priority for our lives—determines theimpactofourlives.

WhattheBibleSays

ReadGenesis 1.What didGod create beforeHe formed the firstman(1–25)?

Why do you think God created all of these things before He madepeople?

WhydoyouthinkitwasimportanttoGodtoensurethateverythingwasgood(4,10,12,18,21,25)beforeHecreatedmankind(seeJames1:17–18)?

The word good in the Old Testament also means well-pleasing,appealing, proper, pleasant to the senses, useful, profitable, or ageneral state of wellbeing and happiness. Everything good thatcomestoyouisfromGod(seeJames1:17).

HowdoourresponsibilitiesrelatetothefactthatwebearHisimage?

The word image in the Old Testament also means alikeness, model, semblance, or shadow. This is whatyouhaveincommonwithGodandwhyyoucanknowHimmoredeeply.

LivingthePrinciple

Being on your knees before God isn’t just a physical stance. It’s anattitude of the heart in which you are seeking God and are willing tosubmit to His plan for your future. As you spend time with Him inprayer, your relationshipwithGod becomes deeper andmore intimate. You feel His power in your life and begin to trust His hand in everysituation. Instead of worrying about the “lions” in your path, youincreasingly focus onHimand howHe isworking. This gives you theassurance and boldness to face your troubles, because you’re confidentthatGod’splanforyouwillbeaccomplished.
