Our Approach
SVS’s approach to development is based upon participatory
principles at the community level. It is believed that overall
development of the communities cannot be achieved by single
hands, thus to ensure the benefits of holistic development to
reach the poor, it is necessary that the different development
actors play conclusive roles at grass root level.
SVS’s based on its capacities and its experience has chosen to work for
reducing illiteracy and promoting sustainable livelihood practices
involving the beneficiaries and other stakeholders. The decisive role of the
society will be to work in harmony with all stakeholders and build
sustainable process in the communities and link them with governance
structures.
By working on systemic issues that can bring about a multiplier change, we
try to integrate the developmental issues and improve the conditions of the
vulnerable individuals and households. We believe that an educated
individual is more capable in taking decisions and improve livelihood
conditions of self and household, thus acting simultaneously on both
thefactors has larger positive impacts on the society and community in
whole. We realize, we are an external agent to the communities and our
role is to trigger the development process and wait till the process are
adopted and integrated in the system. Thus we believe in change for better
tomorrow.
