WARNINGINJECTION HAZARD

Fluid dispensed from the gun, leaks or ruptured components can inject fluid into your body and causeextremely serious injury, including the need for amputation. Fluid splashed in the eyes or on the skincan also cause serious injury.

Fluid injected into the skin might look like just a cut, but it is a serious injury. Get immediate medi -cal attention.

Do not point the gun at anyone or at any part of the body.

Do not put your hand or fingers over the nozzle.

Do not stop or deflect leaks with your hand, body, glove or rag.

Do not “blow back” fluid; this is not an air spray system.

Be sure the gun trigger safety operates before dispensing.

Fully release the trigger to lock the gun trigger safety when you stop dispensing.

Follow the Pressure Relief Procedure on page 5 if the nozzle clogs and before cleaning, check-ing or servicing the equipment.

Tighten all fluid connections before operating the equipment.

Check the hoses, tubes, and couplings daily. Replace worn or damaged parts immediately. Do notrepair high pressure couplings; you must replace the entire hose.

Fluid hoses must have spring guards on both ends, to help protect them from rupture caused bykinks or bends near the couplings.

RECOIL HAZARD

Due to the high pressure fluid emitted, a strong recoil action may occur when you trigger this gun. Ifyou are unprepared, your hand could be forced back toward your body or you could lose your balanceand fall, resulting in serious injury.

OperationPressure Relief Procedure

WARNINGINJECTION HAZARDThe system pressure must be manuallyrelieved to prevent the system fromstarting or dispensing accidentally. Fluid

under high pressure can be injected through theskin and cause serious injury. To reduce the risk ofan injury from injection, splashing fluid, or movingparts, follow the Pressure Relief Procedurewhenever you:

are instructed to relieve the pressure, stop dispensing, check or service any of the system equipment, or install or clean the nozzle.

1. Lock the gun trigger safety by fully releasing thetrigger.

2. Disconnect the power source.

3. Hold a metal part of the gun firmly to the side of agrounded metal pail. Unlock the gun trigger safetyby pushing it in as you trigger the gun to relievepressure.

4. Lock the gun trigger safety by fully releasing thetrigger.

5. Open the pump drain valve (required in yoursystem) to help relieve pressure in the pump, hose, and gun. Triggering the gun to relieve pres-sure may not be sufficient. Have a container readyto catch the drainage.

6. Leave the drain valve open until you are ready todispense again.

If you suspect that the nozzle or hose is completelyclogged, or that pressure has not been fully relievedafter following the steps above, very slowly loosen thehose end coupling and relieve pressure gradually, thenloosen completely. Now clear the nozzle or hose.

Using the Gun

To lock the gun’s trigger safety, fully release the trigger.

To unlock the gun’s trigger safety, push it in as you

squeeze the trigger. See Fig. 1.

To dispense fluid with the gun, start the supply pump

and squeeze the trigger in all the way. Fluid flow

begins with the slightest pressure and stops when the

trigger is released.

Fluid flow rate is controlled at the pump. Adjust the

pump speed to obtain the desired flow rate; use the

lowest pressure necessary. The pressure adjustment

will depend on the hose length, the viscosity of the

fluid, and the nozzle size.

ServiceNOTE: The numbers in parentheses in the text refer toreference numbers in the parts drawing on page 8.

NOTE: Periodically inspect the vent in the gun handlefor build-up of fluid, which could indicate an internalleak. See Fig. 1. Service the valve needle and packingas needed.

Valve Seat and Needle Replacement

WARNINGTo reduce the risk of serious injury whenever youare instructed to relieve pressure, always follow thePressure Relief Procedure on page 5.

If fluid continues to flow after the trigger is released, the gun valve may be obstructed or need adjustment. The valve stem (3) or valve seat (2) may be worn ordamaged.

Adjusting the Valve

1. Relieve the pressure.

2. Squeeze the gun trigger. Remove the valve seat(2). Let the spring (8) push the valve stem (3)forward, and then loosen the nut (4).

3. Remove the actuating pin (24), then turn theadjusting nut (21) out a couple of turns.

4. Reassemble the gun and check the free travel ofthe trigger. It should be approximately 3/16 inch(3.18 mm). See Fig. 1.

5. Repeat the procedure turning the adjusting nut asneeded, until the correct free travel is obtained.

Adjusting the Spring Tension

1. Relieve the pressure.

2. Turn the spring tension adjusting screw (19) so thespring (8) is completely compressed when thetrigger (17) is squeezed in all the way.

Inspecting the V alve for Obstruction or Damage

1. Relieve the pressure.

2. Disconnect the gun from the hose.

3. Disassemble the gun, then clean and inspect theparts.

CAUTIONBe sure to squeeze the trigger when removing thevalve seat (2). Handle the valve seat (2) and valvestem (3) carefully to avoid damaging the hard car-bide portion of these parts.

4. Replace any worn or damaged parts and reas-semble the gun. Adjust the free travel of the triggeras instructed in Adjusting the Valve , at left.

LUBRICATION NOTE: Apply thread lubricant wheninstalling the valve seat (2), adjusting screw (19), ortube (20).

TORQUE NOTE: When assembling the valve seat (2),packing housing (23), or tube (20) to the gun body(14), torque them to 100 in-lb (11 Nm).

Valve Needle and Packing Service

WARNINGTo reduce the risk of serious injury whenever youare instructed to relieve pressure, always follow thePressure Relief Procedure on page 5.

If fluid leaks past the v-block packing (7), the packinghousing (23) may be loose, or the v-block packing orvalve stem (3) may be worn or damaged. Tighten thepacking housing. If it still leaks, relieve the pressureand disconnect the hose from the gun. Disassemblethe gun and replace the v-block packing. When reas-sembling, lubricate the v-block packing (7) and spring(8) with general purpose grease.
