St. Joseph Parish Council

The Parish Pastoral Council’s purpose is to collaborate with the Pastor in over-seeing the fulfillment of the mission of the parish. This includes establishing policies that guides the administration and ministries of the parish; funding the support of each ministry; and pastoral priorities. Meetings are usually once a month. We follow by-laws for our council’s membership and work. We review reports from all ministries and administration. We examine the Financial Budget from the Parish Finance Council and prioritize support for the ministry and administration of the parish. We measure our progress in relationship to our Strategic Plan. We give reports to the parishioners via the bulletin. It is the expectation of the Archbishop that the Parish Pastoral Council send a rep-resentative to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council to participate in the work of that Council to the Archbishop. The Archbishop expects consultation and support by the Parish Pastoral Council for annual budget proposal; major expenditures and projects; or other significant parish decisions.

Fourth Sunday of Easter

Dear Parishioners,

With the parish office closed and the staff mostly working from home, we are taking this time to contact our parishioners by phone. We are checking in, answering ques-tions and helping in any way we can.

During one recent conversation, I learned we had a parishioner who has been very faithful in our Eucharist Adoration; so faithful, in fact, that she has been attending First Friday Adoration since 1950! During that time, she has missed only a small number of Fridays. So, it was especially hard missing April and now May’s First Fridays. I have known her for many years and knew she was faithful in her week-day adoration but did not know she was also so faithful to First Friday devotion. I look at her wonderful faith and am amazed and awed by her. She inspires me so much and through her actions renews daily my own faith.

She is not the only parishioner who has done so. As I talk with our members, I am heartened by their perseverance and strong faith in the face of this pandemic. I am truly blessed to be able to talk with all these wonderful examples of our Christian love and devotion..

My heart is full knowing we will all be back together in the future and will be able to celebrate Mass again in person. In the meantime, I am watching our Masses online and praying for you all. Please know you are helping me with my faith as I am hoping I am helping you.

May God continue to send his Blessings on us all.
