A fairbet for retail relaxation

ALL THE FUN: Wollombi Valley Country Fair in Negro Street this weekend will feature stalls of all kinds, historicalre-enactments, Rob Pankhurst reciting bush poetry with his brumbies and much more.

THE streets of Wollombi are set toripple with activity this weekend,November 3 and 4, during theWollombi Valley Country Fair.

Negro Street will be buzzing withart, craft, wine and food stalls, musicand entertainment.

Visitors can browse the stalls forgemstones, hats, fossils, shoes,alpaca, olive and silk products,soaps, plants, flowers, vegetables,paintings, photographs, books,cakes, jewellery and even clothnappies. They can also treatthemselves to a massage, a cuppaand a sweet treat, or a glass of localwine.

Bands will be playing in NegroStreet on both days: Haydyn Wilsonon Saturday, and Millfield localBrian Stitt and the RunawayCabbages on Sunday.

There will also be buskers. RobPankhurst, joined by his brumbies,will be reciting bush poetry andentertaining the crowds.

Visitors might hear a musket fireor the boom of a cannon, or spot aconvict walking around in leg irons,as the NSW Corp of Marines performhistorical re-enactments.

Sculpture in the Vineyards opensin the Grays Inn garden on Saturday,before the lantern parade snakes itsway through the village to a bonfirein the Wollombi Tavern grounds.Learn more about the history of theregion during the museum open dayon Sunday. Fair organisers are stillaccepting stall-holders.
