4:00 p.m. Saturday Mass or the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. They also will be singing for Christmas Eve Mass at 4:00 p.m. We have been rehearsing in the choir loft at St. Patrick’s from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday evening. Anyone who is interested, please contact Kathy (see below). Thank you, and please consider this opportunity for the youth of our parish to get involved and participate in the Mass!
There will also be a K-4th grade Children’s Choir who will sing before our Christmas Eve Mass.
Kathy Mekeel will be rehearsing with these children on Sundays from 8:00-8:45 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Hall starting this Sunday, Nov. 4th. All children in these grade levels are invited to participate at this very special Mass!

ST. PATRICK WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION
The St. Patrick Women’s Organization will be meeting
Wednesday, November 7th at 6:30 pm in the Parish Center.
All of the women in the parish are invited to attend.
It’s also time for the SEMI-ANNUAL BAKE-LESS BAKE SALE.
Women of the parish, your bake sale letter is on the table in
the back of the church with your name on it. Please pick
yours up today!
My dear parishioners, One of the beautiful mysteries of our Catholic faith is
the communion of the saints. This mystery of the communion of the
saints refers to the union of the faithful on earth, the holy souls
in purgatory, and the saints in Heaven with Christ Jesus as their
Head. It likewise refers to the common sharing of the members
of the Church in holy things, like prayer and the sacraments,
especially the Eucharist, by which believers are formed into the
one Body of Christ. All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2nd), which we cele-
brated on Friday, is the feast on which we remember and pray
for all the souls of the faithful departed who are now in purga-
tory, undergoing the final, spiritual purification needed to see
God “as he is” (1 Jn 3:2).
A particularly consoling truth of our Catholic faith is
that we are both aided by the prayers of the saints in Heaven
and able to aid the souls in purgatory by our own prayers. One
specific way in which we can aid these souls is by gaining for
them an indulgence, that is, the remission before God of the
temporal punishment due to sin. A plenary indulgence (the full
remission of the temporal punishment due to sin) can be gained
for the faithful departed by meeting the usual conditions and by
devoutly visiting a cemetery and praying, if only mentally, for
the departed on any and each day from Nov. 1st to Nov. 8th. The
usual conditions include being in a state of grace, having a com-
plete detachment from sin (even venial sin), going to sacramen-
tal confession, receiving Holy Communion, and praying for the
intentions of the Pope (by reciting an Our Father and a Hail
Mary). Sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayers
for the Pope’s intentions can be carried out within 20 days of
the indulgenced act (i.e., visiting a cemetery and praying for the
deceased). During this week and this month of November, let
us take some time to remember and pray for the holy souls in
purgatory. They will surely return the favor when they make it
to Heaven.
