NOVEMBER IS THE
THE MONTH OF ALL SOULS
In EVERY Mass we commend to God all the souls of the faithful departed. Some of these lesser known souls are already living among the saints, while others are experiencing further purification so they will be prepared to see God face to face when Christ comes again in all his glory. Keep in mind that any souls who may be in purgatory are destined for heaven and we Catholics believe that we can very much assist them through our constant prayers for God’s mercy.
THE BOOK OF THE NAMES OF THE DEAD will be
placed close to the altar throughout the month of November along with the Easter Candle.
PICTURES OF THE DECEASED are displayed
throughout November as a visible sign of our communion with all who have gone before us in the hope of rising again.

Parents, Last week your teen(s) experienced their first session of The Kind of People He Invites. The outcome was that Jesus’ invitation is for all of us. This weekend, they will dive deeper into the invitation with a focus on the heart of the Gospel.
You have an invaluable role and powerful influence in your teen’s life and our parish wants to partner with you in fostering the faith of your teen. We invite you to join your teen(s) in walking with them during their journey of following Jesus. To assist you in this walk, your teen(s) was/were provided with a Parent Sheet - The Kind of People He Invites last Sunday and this week they will be sent home with the Parent Sheet - The Invitation.
32nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME WWW.STANDREWMOORE.COM NOVEMBER 8, 2020
Fasting has been a practice throughout human evolution. Ancient hunter-gatherers didn’t have supermarkets, refrigerators or food available year-round. Sometimes they couldn’t find anything to eat. Fasting is often done for religious or spiritual reasons including in Christianity and Judaism. We are familiar with fasting during lent and other times when we desire to focus on repentance. The Catholic Church teaches that all people are obliged by God to perform some penance for their sins, and that these acts of penance are both personal and corporeal. Matthew 9:14-15 - Then the disciples of John approached him and said, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast (much), but your disciples do not fast?” Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. Fasting has many spiritual benefits but did you know that fasting is beneficial for physical reasons too? I have had a request for a support group to encourage and support intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. It’s currently very popular in the health and fitness community. Intermittent fasting may slightly boost metabolism while helping you eat fewer calories. It’s a very effective way to lose weight and belly fat. Intermittent fasting can have many benefits for your body and brain. It can cause weight loss and may reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer. It may also help you live longer. People with certain medical conditions should not fast without consulting with a doctor first. Those interested in learning more about intermittent fasting or participating in a support group please contact Debbie Kamphaus, Parish Nurse at (405) 754-5302 or email [email protected] Maureen Schumacher has agreed to facilitate this support group if we have enough interest.

Pray for Friends and
Family Who Are Very Ill
Intercessory prayers can be very helpful not only for those who are ill but for those who are caring for them. While we are all free to offer prayers for any intention, this particular prayer list is intended for those who have suffered a serious injury or who have fallen very ill. Our prayers can help to get them back on course.
