Gutsy Performace Lifts Purple Eagles Over Colgate• The Purple Eagles picked up their second win of the season against the defending Patriot League champion and unanimous preseason favorite Colgate Raiders, 93-82, on December 8.• The Purple Eagles erased a 16-point fi rst half defi cit, watched Colgate rallied in the fi nal minute to send the game into overtime, and then powered past the Raiders in overtime in a suspenseful contest. • The Purple Eagles showed great poise in overtime as they dominated the extra period, outscoring the Raiders 13-2.

You Can Always Come Home? • The Purple Eagles played only two home games - Bryant on November 18 and Colgate on December 8 - in the fi rst two months of the season. • Niagara’s two home games in November and December are the program’s fewest home games since the 1993-94 season. NU did not have a single home game in either November or December and played their fi rst home game on January 6, 1994.

Going OT• Niagara won its second game of the season by defeating Colgate, 93-82, in overtime. • The win was Niagara’s fi rst victory in a single overtime period since January 31, 2013 when NU topped Iona, 93-90, in the National MAAC Game of the Week on ESPN3. • The Purple Eagles had dropped their last seven games that were decided in one overtime period.

Challenging Slate For Young Purple Eagles• NU faced a challenging non-conference schedule with matchups at Syracuse, Rutgers, Buf-falo and St. Bonaventure.• Niagara had the highest ranked SOS (strength of schedule), 142, amongst MAAC members during the non-conference season.• The Purple Eagles started their 20-game MAAC schedule in January and the pursuit for a MAAC Tournament title begins on March 10 at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

NU To Broadcast All Home Games On ESPN • All of Niagara men’s and women’s basketball home games will be broadcast on either ESPN3 or ESPN+ for the fi rst time. • The broadcasts will continue to add to Niagara’s enhanced gameday experience, which includes three high-defi nition LED video boards in its athletic venues and a renovated video production studio in Dunleavy Hall. • The improvements are thanks to the generosity of Bill McKnight (‘66), president of Auto-mated Petroleum and Energy Co., and his wife, Kathy, who gifted Niagara University Athlet-ics with $1 million to transform the gameday experience.• Each of the upgrades allows communication studies, sport management and other appli-cable majors practical experiences in gameday operations, including roles as camera opera-tors, technical directors, assistant directors, graphics producers, video and replay operators and sideline reporters.

First Win For GP• First-year head coach Greg Paulus won his fi rst game as a head coach when the Purple Eagles edged Norfolk State, 65-61, on December 1. • The former Duke standout was named head coach in November after joining the staff in May 2019 as an assistant coach after coaching stops at George Washington, Louisville, Ohio State, and Navy.

Academic Success• Niagara posted a 3.40 team GPA during the summer school session. • The Purple Eagles followed with a program-best 3.18 GPA in the fall 2019 semester.
