There are some monuments in Delhi which were built at the time of British and some others which are from the period of Mughals. Some famous monuments from British era are Parliament House, India Gate and President’s house. The architectural excellence is the one thing which is common among all the monuments. Old Fort built by Sher Shah:

The Old Fort in Delhi is one of the oldest monuments in Delhi. It has been established by Sher Shah Suri and Humayun. It is located near Pragati Maidan in Delhi. This place receives many tourists annually. The highlight of the Old Fort is its outstanding architecture. Moreover, there is a Sound and Light show organized in old fort every evening which also attracts many tourists. The boating facility and Zoological Park are the other two attractions available nearby.

Red Fort built by Shah jahan:

The Red Fort is another excellent monument in Delhi. It was built by Shah Jahan. The red fort is located in Old Delhi and is very easy to reach. One of the astonishing facts about this monument is that it took 10 years to build. It was strategically built at the banks of Yamuna during the era of the Mughal Empire.

Qutub Minar:

The Qutub Minar is the most famous and most visited places of Delhi. The chances are that you might have already visited this place but if you haven’t then it’s time to pack your bags and visit this place at earliest. This monument is mostly the first place visited by tourists in Delhi. Qutub Minar comes among one of the most ancient monument of Delhi. The Qutub Minar was built by Qutub-ud-din- Aibak in the year 1193. It is easily reachable and is located at the distance of just 15 kilometers from New Delhi. The single highlight which is more than enough to describe this place is that it is the highest stone tower of India.

Tughlaqabad Fort built by Ghyas- ud-din-Tughlaq:

The Tughlaqabad Fort was built by Ghyas- ud-din-Tughlaq in 1321- 25. People are usually shocked by the fact that how old this monument actually is. The fort is situated near to the Qutab Minar. The Tughlaqabad Fort construction has some very unique dimensions in its construction. Many architects consider it to be a proof of how good old age architects were.

India Gate designed by Edwin Lutyens:

This historic monument was designed by Edwin Lutyens in the year 1921. Some people consider it to be an excellent example of modern architecture. The India Gate is located very near to the popular Connaught Place. The monument is dedicated to the martyred soldiers of revolt of 1857. This monument is a war memorial to the brave soldiers involved in the revolt. People prefer to visit India Gate in the late hours of evening. This place is a must visit if you visit Delhi.
