9. Obesity in Pregnancy: Understanding the Scope of the Problem and the Evidence to Optimize Outcomes

Social EventsAn Opening Reception combined with the opening of the Exhibits will be held on Wednesday, February 5, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, providing an opportunity for all attendees to meet and mingle informally over drinks and light hors d’ouevres. On Thursday, February 6, from 6:30– 7:30pm, there will be a reception for MFM Fellows-in-training. This event is by invitation only and will immediately follow the Associate Member’s meeting which will be held from 6:00 – 6:30pm.On Friday night, from 6:15 – 7:00pm, the President’s Award Ceremony is an opportunity to welcome the SMFM’s newest Honorary Member, The Pregnancy Foundation/AAOGF Scholarship Award winner, and to cheer as the best oral and poster presentations (as judged through Friday) are announced. The President’s Award Ceremony will immediately follow the presentation on Addressing Maternal Morbidity and Mortality in the United States: A Call to Action by 2014 Honorary Member Dr. William Callaghan (5:45 – 6:15pm) and the third annual “Late-Breaking Research” presentations (5:15 – 5:45pm).

Exhibits Open on Wednesday Evening!In 2014, the opening of the exhibits will be combined with Wednesday evening’s Opening Reception in the Grand Salon and Chemin Royale. Once again for the 2014 exhibit portion of the meeting is the Exhibit Passport Program where attendees receive “passports” at registration and obtain an exhibitor stamp at each booth they visit. Once they obtain stamps from at least 20 different exhibitors, they can enter for prize drawings. Prize offerings include electronics, software, and meeting registrations. This is the only national meeting where you will have the opportunity to see new services, equipment, and technologies especially showcased for maternal-fetal medicine subspecialists.

Meeting Cancellation PolicyWritten cancellations postmarked by January 10, 2014 will be refunded less a $75.00 processing fee. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE MADE FOR CANCELLATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THAT TIME. All refunds will be issued after the meeting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONRegistration fees for the Scientific Sessions include Continental breakfast and breaks. The Wednesday Evening Reception and Friday’s President’s Award Ceremony are open to you and your spouse/guest. Back by popular demand are the Luncheon Roundtables, featuring presentations by authorities in the specialty. Topics will cover current controversies and concerns in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Attendance at each session is limited, so pre-registration is essential. The registration fee for the Roundtable Luncheons includes a box-lunch, beverage, handout, and the opportunity to hear some of the most respected names in MFM discuss today’s “hot button” issues.

Electronic PostersElectronic posters will be available for viewing throughout the meeting in the Hilton Exhibition Center. Come by to see this addition to the SMFM Annual Meeting. Also – a first for 2014 – a limited number of posters in each session will be presented electronically on large LCD screens in lieu of the traditional paper format.
