MEET JERICHO CLIENT JIMMY Jimmy served in the U.S. Marines from 1983-1989, signing up just after he finished high school. Married and a young father, after boot camp Jimmy served in both active and reserve duty as a teletype technician and a supply warehouseman. In 2009, he became disabled and couldn’t work. With a decline in finances, he ended up at the Borden Avenue veterans shelter which led him to Jericho. After coming to Kingsbridge Terrace, Jimmy found his two youngest children through Facebook and reunited with them after 11 years of being absent. Jimmy is now ready to start a new chapter in his life. He now regularly sees his children and grandchildren who live nearby. He is currently applying to get on Community Board 8, and dreams of working in politics.

MEET JERICHO CLIENT FRANCHESCA
21-year old Franchesca had two toddlers and a third baby on the way when she was unexpectedly laid off from her job in retail. Due to her pregnancy, she was unable to secure another job and was forced to move her young family into a homeless shelter. Franchesca remained determined to give her children a better future, and she found that future the day she was referred to Jericho Project. Our staff secured her a spacious two-bedroom apartment in Harlem and a full-time job at a clinic nearby. Today, Franchesca’s little ones are enrolled in a charter elementary school and she is pursuing a career in nursing.

THANK YOU TO OUR JERICHO ADVOCATE FOR SHARING HIS STORY TONIGHT
Pat Wehl served in the U.S. Army from 1967-69, and is a Vietnam combat veteran. As a member of an assault helicopter unit, he helped insert troops into the field, ferried in supplies, and retrieved soldiers from battle, sometimes while under fire. Later on in life, despite a 25-year career running the KPMG mailroom, Pat suffered from PTSD which led to drug and alcohol abuse, disability and homelessness. A resident of Jericho Project's Kingsbridge Terrace since 2015, Pat has regained his voice as a writer, penning stories in the Veterans Writing Workshop. Today, he feels proud to be able to invite friends over to his beautiful apartment.

MEET JERICHO CLIENT ALLIE Allie (age 24) worked as an administrative assistant for three years, but when the program lost its funding she was let go. During that time, she underwent a full transition to female. When she began applying for jobs again, she began to struggle despite having the necessary skills and experience. It seemed no one wanted to hire her anymore. Soon, she ran out of money to pay rent. Allie came to Jericho asking for help finding an administrative position in the nonprofit sector. Jericho helped her update her resume, practice her interview skills, and gain access to interview clothing. When a front desk manager position opened up at Jericho, we knew we had an excellent candidate in Allie – and we hired her! Allie is grateful to Jericho for helping her out of a terrifying situation and bringing her one step closer to her personal goals.
