Founded at Yale University in 1999, the Enso String Quartet has, in a decade and a half, risen to the front rank of string ensembles. Described by Strad magazine as “thrilling,” and praised by the Washington Post for its “glorious sonorities,” the Enso has won numerous awards, including top prizes at the Concert Artists Guild competition and the Banff International String Quartet Competition. In the words of Classical Voice, it is “one of the eminent string quartets of our era.”

Chamber MusicWorkshop

Centrum is honored to launch its new Chamber Music Workshop in 2015. The workshop is designed to serve the highest caliber of dedicated, emerging, pre-formed ensembles and pianists on a path to pro-fessional careers in music. Every year, two carefully selected string quartets and two up-and-coming concert pianists will be offered a rare opportunity to work with a world-renowned Quartet-in-Residence (in 2015, the Enso Quartet) as well as Artistic Director Lucinda Carver. Admission to the workshop will be strictly merit-based and highly competitive.

The public is invited to observe several master classes and concert recitals for a special behind-the-scenes glimpse into the art of music making. All events are held at The Joseph F. Wheeler Theater.
