PURPOSE
The Annual Montgomery County Public Schools Big Band Assessment and Clinic is designed to provide specific musical critique by experts in the field of jazz. High school jazz ensembles perform three jazz selections before a panel of distinguished music adjudicators who are experts in the field of music education. They critique the performance and apply ratings. Teachers are given this information, which is designed to be shared with students as they review their performance recordings and written critiques.
A jazz clinician works with middle school and younger high school jazz ensembles in a clinic setting and provides immediate feedback to the group.
