Components
Suite components are distributed across four configurations: Client Configuration
WebSphere Metadata Server Configuration
WebSphere Data Integration Server Configuration
Database Configuration
Client Configuration IBM WebSphere Data Integration Console
IBM WebSphere DataStage and QualityStage Designer
IBM WebSphere Information Analyzer
IBM WebSphere Information Integration Service Manager
IBM Software Group
Components (cont.)
WebSphere Metadata Server Configuration The Metadata Server configuration consists of a set of J2EE applications that hosts
meta data services, shared services, and repository services
A WebSphere Application Server instance hosts the Metadata Server
WebSphere Data Integration Server Configuration Data Integration Engine for:
WebSphere DataStage
WebSphere QualityStage
WebSphere Information Analyzer
Server components for stages used by WebSphere DataStage
Database Configuration The Database configuration includes the repository store for metadata the the
applications in the WebSphere Data Integration Suite create and query
IBM Software Group
Licensing One single file for all the licensing information of a domain (engines
CPU, app server, client connections)
Human readable license file (you can actually know what you have)
The current usage of the licenses can be viewed in the administration console How many engines are registered to this domain
Total number of CPU per product
Current CPU allocation (per product and per engine machine)
Available CPU (per product)
IBM Software Group
Installation New suite installer
Installs all the products as part of a single suite installation
All the tier (client, engine, middle tier) part of the same suite installer
You can select which tier you want to install or install all of them at the same time
You can select a subset of the products to install
Supports graphical installer on all platforms
Supports silent installation on all platforms
Supports console based installation on all platforms
What appears in Add/Remove programs is WebSphere Data Integration Suite (not the individual products)
When Uninstalling you can remove all the components of the suite installed on the machine (or choose the custom uninstall to select a subset of products)
IBM Software Group
Concurrent operations – Multi-Server Installs Allows install of multiple instances of DataStage Server running
independently of each other
Known as ITAG installs Each instance allocated a “tag id” and port number
Users connect to a specific Server instance via its port number
On install User can choose to preserve the existing install (or upgrade)
New installed Server gets a tag id, a new port number and is installed in a different location (of users choosing)
Existing Server retains default port number (31538)
NOTE: ITAG installs are not supported on Windows platforms.
IBM Software Group
Concurrent operations – ITAG details To use a specific Server instance:
For clients, enter <mymachine>:<port number> during login
For command line tools, use the same format when specifying the server
– E.g. dsjob –server mymachine:31359 –user…………
Be aware: Starting/stopping a DS Server requires that DSHOME env var is set to the
appropriate instance before running the uv –admin –stop command Do not try to share projects files between Server instances Do not try to share projects between Server instances
IBM Software Group
Concurrent operations – DS “Client Switcher” DS Multi-Client Manager aka “Client Switcher” supported for Hawk
Intended to aid migration from 7.x to Hawk
Complements ITAG installations on the server
Note: Only supports switching of DS clients (not old QS clients)

• Project parameters (DSParams)• Hashed Files• External files • JCL templates• Message handlers• We’re aiming to have some tools to assist with this process
• Start DS V8.0• Import dsx to V8.0• Batch compile• Validate the environment
