6.3.5 Import UMTS DictionariesUse this procedure to import the UMTS Dictionaries

Note: This procedure takes from 2h to 4h on the server (depending to the configuration)

    ATTENTION

If "Remote " connection, use only ssh, do not use telnet or rlogin.

    Procedure

    Step Action

    1. Change in 'offlinetool.properties' file

Note: This change in "offlinetool.properties" file is to be made ONLY if you are not doing amigration from RNO/NPA.

    a. Edit the file:

    /alcatel/muse/MUSE_QOS/offlinetool/config/offlinetool.properties

    b. Set the value of the parameter muse.offlinetool.historic.partition=FALSE

    c. Save the file and close the editor.

    2. Import dictionaries

    a. Insert the CD4 in the drive

    b. Log in asroot

    c. Launch the Import dictionaries:

    >>cd /cdrom/cdrom0

    >>./umtsfullinstall.sh

    52/110

At the end of all imports, the traces must be checked for errors before continuing. If some errors

appears, check the [3] External Release Notes for 9359 NPO OAM 5.2 & OAM6.0Kdocument.

    a. For Parameters:

    >>cd /alcatel/temp/data/trace/

    >>grep -i " error" RTP_Offline__0.traces

    b. For Counters/Indicators:

    >>cd /alcatel/temp/data/trace

    >>grep -i " error" OT__0.traces

    c. Another file can be checked:

    /var/sadm/install/logs/MUSE_UMTS_CD4_UMTSfullinstall_log_

6.3.6 Set Recovery Period on NPOUse this procedure to set the recovery period on NPO.

Note: This procedure takes 5 min on the server.

If you manage to perform a migration from PrOptima to NPO, it is recommended to follow the

advices below , if it is not the case go to step 1

For the migration, it is advized to choose a migration end date equal to SUNDAY (in order to migrate

a full week at the end of the period). Then, taking into account this advice, the data source should be

declared so that data import should start the MONDAY (just after SUNDAY ). This is in order to keep

    data continuity.

    Example 1

Migration End Date = SUNDAY ()

If Datasource Declaration Date is done on the next THURSDAY (+4) , we should set the

parameter MAX_PREVIOUS_DAYS =3 so that data import will start on the MONDAY (+1).

    Example 2

Migration End Date = SUNDAY ()

If Datasource Declaration Date is done on the next TUESDAY (+2) , we should set the parameter

MAX_PREVIOUS_DAYS =1 so that data import will start on the MONDAY (+1).

In case these recommendations are not followed, the week data covering both End of migration

Period and Beginning of QoS import Period would not be reliable (empty or incomplete) after

    migration.

To set the MAX_PREVIOUS_DAYS , follow the steps below :

    Procedure

    Step Action

    1. Open aTerminalwindow as root.

    2. Type:

    >>cd /alcatel/muse/MUSE_QOS/loader/genericloader

    >>vi GenericLoader.properties

    Set the parameterMAX_PREVIOUS_DAYS

Note: In case of cluster configuration, MAX_PREVIOUS_DAYS should be set in both

6.3.7 Declare Data SourcesUse this procedure to declare the data sources

Note: This procedure takes 10 min per each data source on the server

    ATTENTION

If "Remote " connection, use only ssh, do not use telnet or rlogin.

    ATTENTION

To be sure to have the latest topology, it is recommended to import manually the

parameters or to wait for the day after before declaring data source

Data sources for Parameters, RNP, QoS, Tuning or Supervision must be declared.

    Procedure

    Step Action

    1. Open a "Terminal" window as root.

    2. Launch the Firefox browser from the server:

    >>cd /usr/local/firefox

    >>./firefox

If "Alert" pop-up window appears, click [OK].

    3. In the URL bar, type the following address:

It is recommended to perform a backup after the NPO installation . Several backup / restore solutions

are available. Using one or the other depends on your hardware configuration.

All the information to choose those backup solutions is available in the [3] External Release Notes for
