3D XI Viewer Overview

3D eXtended ImagingTM or 3D XITM is a collection of comprehensive 3D image

processing tools that we have incorporated into our flagship ultrasound system,

ACCUVIX XQ. This innovation diagnostic package, comprised of Multi-Slice ViewTM ,

Oblique ViewTM and VolumeCT TM will empower you with more diagnosis confidence

and accuracy.

With 3D XITM, you will be able to view, examine and diagnosis more clinical data in

a shorter amount of time than with current existing ultrasound technologies.

Integration of 3D XITM technologies, Medison is the very first and only ultrasound

firm in the industry to develop and adapt CT and MRI-like imaging technologies into

ultrasound systems. Whether for research or in an clinical setting, ACCUVIX XQ

with 3D XITM will dramatically increase your diagnostic capabilities and clinical

accuracy.

Limitation

3D XI Viewer▶ offers basic measurement functions only (Distance and Ellipse).

Using 3D XITM PC Viewer

▶ Once download is complete, the [3D XI PC Viewer] folder will be created

automatically in C: Drive, and the 3D XI Viewer file will be created on the Desktop.

▶ Run 3D XI Viewer, either by opening the [3D XI Viewer] folder and clicking on

the 3D XI Viewer icon or by clicking the 3D XI Viewer icon on the Desktop.

▶ 3D XI Viewer Startup Screen

- Use the mouse to select any menu on the screen.

- Open File: Select the to open Medison 3D Volume Data. This is the

3D image data saved by the MEDISON Integrated Image Management

Systems (SonoView, etc.) and has the “.mvl” extension name.

- Save Screen: Select the to save the 3D XI image displayed in the

Viewer. The image will be saved as a BMP file in the specified location.

- Close: Select the to close 3D XI Viewer.

- Select Mode: 3D XI can be run in three modes including Multi Slice View,

Volume CT, and Oblique View, depending on the examination application.

▶ At the 3D XI Viewer startup screen, open an image to apply 3D XI.

▶ If the image is initialized while 3D XI is in progress, the image will be restored to

the original state.

3D XI™ - Multi-Slice View™

Multi Slice Mode ▶ The Multi Slice function is for improving usability of the neighboring Multi Slice

images.

Select the to run it.

▶ Display Layout (1×1, 2×1, 3×2, 4×3, 6×4)

This function is for setting the Display Layout. Five settings are available for

selection. 1×1 displays one large image and 6x4 displays many small slice images.

▶ Measure

This function is not provided in Volume CT and Oblique. Select the Measure to

move to the screen where measurement is possible.

- Distance: Measures the distance between two selected points.

- Ellipse: Measures the area of the selected ellipse. To select an ellipse,

select two points and use the connecting axis to adjust the ellipse shape.

- Clear: Clears the Distance and Ellipse measurement results.

- Main Menu: Returns to the Multi Slice Mode screen.

- To cancel measuring, right-click on the mouse.

▶ Initialize

This function resets the Multi Slice Mode setting to default values.

▶ Ref. Plane (A/B/C Plane)

This function allows the user to select the Reference Plane image of a Multi Slice

image to view the image in a desired plane.

Select OH to verify where the selected slice is located in the volume data.

▶ Rot. Z (0/90/180/270)

This function rotates the Multi Slice image by the selected value. If the mode

changes or the Reference Plane is modified, the current Rot. Z is reset to 0.

The rotation will be performed along the Z-axis as illustrated below.

▶ Zoom

This function allows the user to zoom into the Multi Slice image up to 400%. Use

the mouse to select the slide button and make appropriate adjustments.

▶ Post Processing

This function allows the user to produce a desired Multi Slice image. Images that

have been post-processed are not applied to Volume CT.

- DynamicMR: Improves the image quality by maximizing the contrast and

sharpening the borders of the Multi Slice image.

- Invert: Inverts the black and white of the Multi Slice image.

- Auto Contrast: Auto-adjusts the Multi Slice image contrast. This calculates

the image histogram and stretches the contrast distribution; little or no

effects may be seen for images with even contrast distribution.

- Threshold: Sets the threshold for the Multi Slice image. This removes the

unnecessary levels of brightness from the image.

- Sharpen: Sets the sharpness of the borders for the Multi Slice image. Use

this to obtain sharper borders or a clearer image when using a blurred

image. Setting the value higher results in a sharper image.

- Gradient Mask Image (Top/Bottom/Left/Right): Adjusts the

brightness of desired areas in the Multi Slice image. To use this function,

choose [Top], [Bottom], [Left], [Right] or nothing.

- Flip Left/Right, Flip Top/Bottom: Flips the Multi Slice image horizontally

or vertically.

- Image Setting: Sets the Chroma Map and Gamma values.

• Click Return To Main to return to the Multi Slice Mode screen.

• Select a button under Palette to apply desired colors on the display

image.

• Adjust the [Pos] value and [Bias] value for Post Curve to adjust the

Gamma value.

This function adjusts the Rotate X, Rotate Y, and Rotate Z slide buttons in order to

rotate the Multi Slice image. Rotating the selected reference plane also rotates all

other planes in the same manner.

▶ Select Image

This function allows the user to choose an image to view by selecting Previous

Image or Next Image. The selected image is indicated by a yellow border.

▶ Select Page

This function allows the user to choose a different page of images to view by

selecting Previous Page or Next Page. Page range varies depending on the

Display Layout.

▶ Cut Depth

This function sets the Multi Slice interval. The interval for slice images can be user-

configured and is represented by an internal operation value by default. “Cut

Depth” indicated here refers to the interval of each slice within the volume data; it

does not represent the actual anatomic location in the scanned target.

3D XI™ - Volume CT™

The ▶ Volume CT Mode expresses the Coronal / Sagittal / Axial images in the

selected 3D locations for easy identification of plane image information.

Select to start the Volume CT Mode. Select Cube or Cross under

Display Format to select a desired Volume CT format.

▶ Displays the respective surface according to the location of the image selected in

Multi-Slice view. If the Front/Top/Left side of the volume is nearer, the image is

displayed from the direction of the Multi Slice view. If the Back/Bottom/Right side

of the volume is nearer, the image is displayed from the opposite direction of the

Multi Slice view. When displaying the location for the selected slice, the image is

displayed as slightly slanted. This is to simultaneously show all the plane images

seen from different directions.

▶ Cube Volume CT

This function identifies the information for the external plane image neighboring the

cube.

- Boundary: Toggles the boundary of Cube Volume CT on or off. The

boundary expresses the external area for the total 3D volume.

- Initialize: Resets the Cube Volume CT settings to default values.

- Select Surface (Front/Back/Left/Right/Up/Down): Sets the reference

surface. The user can select from 6 different surfaces.

- Zoom: The Cube Volume CT image can be zoomed up to 400%. Use the

mouse to select the slide button and make appropriate adjustments.

- Surface Offset: Moves the offset position of the selected reference surface.

- Rotation: Adjust the Rotate X, Rotate Y, and Rotate Z slide buttons to

rotate the Cube Volume CT image.

▶ Cross Volume CT

Identifies the information for the cross internal plane image.

- Initialize: Resets the Cross Volume CT settings to default values.

- Plane Offset: Moves the position of the reference plane.

- Rotation: Adjust the Rotate X, Rotate Y, and Rotate Z slide buttons to

rotate the Cross Volume CT image.

Oblique Mode ▶ At the anatomic location of the Coronal / Sagittal / Axial image, use Line or

Contour on the selected plane to view an oblique plane image. Select to

start the mode.

Display Format▶

- Static Line: Acquires the information of the oblique plane image using the

default line.

- Dynamic Line: Acquires the information of the oblique plane image using

an edited line. To edit the line, use the mouse to select S(Start) and E(End)

points. Once the line is confirmed, the corresponding oblique plane image

will be displayed.

- Contour: Acquires the information of the oblique plane image by editing the

contour. To edit the contour, use the mouse to select S(Start) and E(End)

points. Once the contour is confirmed, the corresponding oblique plane

image will be displayed.

- Note that the amount of data is limited for specifying Dynamic Line or

Contour; the plane image for any excess data will not be displayed.

- The view direction for the oblique plane image is the oblique location of the

plane cutting the volume data.

Line Rotation▶

This function allows the user to rotate the default line when using Static Line or

Dynamic Line.

Line Offset▶

This function’s arrow button allows the user to move the location of the edited line

when using Dynamic Line.
