Dear parish family,
As we continue in this forty-day “spiritual retreat” called Lent, it is important for the believer to use wisely the three “weapons” presented by the Church to remove any ob-stacles that impede the heart to return to God. Jesus invites his disciples, as he invited Peter, James, and John to be with Him at the top of the mountain. The glory of the Trans-figuration is for all to see, experience, and dwell in. Two key elements to keep in mind in responding to his invitation: love (represented by the presence of Moses- a law based on love) and truth (represented by Elijah – a prophet whose mission, word, and proclamation were based on truth). Therefore, may we, like Moses and Elijah, be always in conversation with the Lord as others, like Peter, James, and John, contemplate the glory of the Lord as we all together walk by faith in this valley towards the mountain, the eternal Jerusalem. Then let us live this Lent with faith and surrender as it were our last one!
I thank all parochial volunteers and benefactors for sharing your incalculable gifts, precious time, and valuable experi-ence as disciple missionary with the other members of the parish and community. My invitation is also to take some time in your busy schedule to spend it with Jesus Christ. It can be every Wednesday at Immaculate Conception before the Blessed Sacrament or even attending the Cursillo – a three-day spiritual retreat. In this way, his thoughts will become ours; his feelings will become ours; his mercy and love will be experienced and lived by all. As St. Paul says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Gal. 2:20).
If there is a parishioner or member of the community who wants me to visit him/her, please let me know.
The Lord, in his abundant mercy, blesses, heals, and strengthens you. Trust in the Lord; I say, trust in the Lord. Peace!
Fr. German
Querida familia parroquial,
¡Paz!
