Let me start by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!! This season brings with it a feeling of warmth and good cheer, the thankfulness for another year of friends family and good health, and the hope of good things to come in 2017. During this holi-day season, let us not forget those who are less fortu-nate. If you can, volunteer your time to help them. During the months of December and January, any past member can apply for reinstatement for $1.00(one dollar), and the pro rated amount for the rest of the Lodge Year. If you know of past members who would like to rejoin, you can pick up applications at the Lodge. Also, we are still looking for new members. The goal for this lodge year is 40 new or re-instated mem-bers. We are now halfway there. We will be having fund raising events after the first of the year. I am looking for people to help out (i.e. sell tickets, work the events). Anyone who is interested in helping in any way, let me know. On Sunday December 4, at 2:00pm, we will be holding our annual Memorial Service for our departed members. On Monday December 5, from 4:00-8:00 pm, we will be sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner in our upstairs hall. The proceeds of this dinner will go towards the refurbishment of the War Memorial located at N. Pitts-burgh St. and Memorial Blvd. Help is needed with this dinner. “God bless us everyone.”

Elks News · Soccer Shoot: Congratulations to Brooke Lindstrom

who is the State Soccer Shoot Champion! She will compete in the regional championship in March.

· Our Breakfast and Dinner menus have been revised. They are printed in this newsletter. We are open for breakfast on Saturday at 8:00 AM and for dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 5:00 PM.

· Former members can reinstate their membership dur-ing the months of December and January for a $1.00 fee plus prorated 2016-17 dues.

· The local Hoop Shoot will be held at Connellsville Jr High on Saturday, January 14th. The shoot is open to any boy or girl 8 to 13 years of age as of April 1, 2017.

· The theme for the Americanism Essay Contest is “Why is it Important to Vote?”, The contest is open to anyone in grades 5 through 8. Deadline to the Lodge is December 30, 2016.

· The theme for the Drug Awareness Essay, Poster and Video Contests is “Just Say No.” The poster contest is open to anyone in grades 3 through 5 and the essay contest is open to anyone in grades 6-8. New this year is a video contest open to middle school, high school and post graduate students. Deadline to the Lodge is January 6, 2017.

· The 2016 Most Valuable Student scholarship appli-cations are now available at at www.elks.org/enf/scholars. Legacy scholarships for children and grandchil-dren of Elk members are available online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/legacy.cfm. Deadline is Feb-ruary 3, 2017.

· The Fall PA Elks Newsletter can be viewed at http://thepaelk.us/The_Pennsylvania_Elk/Welcome.html. The password can be obtained by emailing the Secre-tary at [email protected].

· Thank you to the members and friends who volun-teered their time during November. More volunteers are always needed for our weekly Wing Nites and our monthly Steak Frys as well as ticket sellers. We are able to keep the prices low by using volunteers, but more volunteers are needed. If interested please contact any Lodge officer or House Committee member. Or you can call the Lodge office at 724-628-4237.

· Connellsville Elks Gift Certificates make excellent Christmas gifts. Request your certificates at the bar.
