RLU is geen Internationale Standard zoalsmeters of liters..

Elk ATP systeem heeft zijn eigen waarde(schaalverdeling) voor 1 Light Unit, en allemetingen zijn dus hierdoor relatief

Een hoger getal wil niet zeggen dat de gevoeligheid groter is.

Analytical Performance of the ATP Assay

Detecting ATP, Blood, and Bacteria

ATP: The assay analytical limit of detection is 1 femtomole of

ATP/swab

Whole blood: The analytical limit of detection is1x10-8 diluted

whole blood (approximately 50 RBCs/swab)

Bacteria: Sensitivity varies depending on the model organism.

The assay is most sensitive to G(-) bacteria where the lowest

detectable concentrations can be approximately 1,000

CFUs/swab. For some G(+) bacteria the lowest detectable

amount can be 10,000 CFUs/swab.

Monitoring programma Surface testing


� Studies die aangeven dat er een relatie bestaat tussen een

onzuivere patiënten omgeving en ziekenhuisgeassocieerde

infecties/ outbreaks

� Objective zuiverheid van “high touch points” ondermaats is

� Visueel schone omgeving in het kader van infectiepreventie

geen betrouwbare omgeving is

� ATP, objectief, snel en hoge sensitiviteit

(RLU threshold: <250-500)

� Meermaals aangetoond dat bij grote meerderheid visueel

zuivere oppervlakken toch een te hoge ATP waarde gemeten

werd.

� Audit belangrijk � mensen gedragen zich anders als ze

gecontroleerd worden


� Contaminatie OK soms 3x hoger dan op patiëntenkamers

� Hogere contaminatie voor reiniging zorgt ook voor een hogere

waarde na reiniging

� Locaties waarbij de verantwoordelijkheid voor de schoonmaak bij

de facilitaire dienst lag scoorden duidelijk beter

� Meest gecontamineerde oppervlaktes zijn niet per definitie “high

touch points’

� Mate van bevuiling sterk afhankelijk van type test punt

�belangrijke vraag “wie maakt wat schoon’


� Studie gedaan naar oppervlakte bevuiling op o.a. een OK

� Visuele beoordeling was een slechte indicatie voor de mate van “schoon”

� 61% van de OK’s waren niet acceptable “schoon”

� Een geïntegreerde ATP monitoring i.c.m. microbiologie en visuele inspectie

is aanbevolen.
