Census 2021 Recruitment Campaign

DWP and The Adecco Group would like your support with the Census 2021 high-volume recruitment campaign. Collectively we aim to promote inclusion across all community groups and ensure a diverse workforce is in place for the census.

PeoplePlus and Staffline have launched a new nationwide worker transition service as part of the campaign to Feed the Nation during the Covid-19 crisis.

We are working together to move people who have been made redundant, are ‘at risk’ or in the gig economy into the ‘essential services’ industries.

Many industries like travel and retail have been savagely hit by Covid-19. At the same time many industries associated with food production, food supply, supermarkets and delivery services are crying out for thousands of additional workers. It’s these food and produce sectors which the government has now categorised as ‘essential services’ – because without them we will see more of the alarming pictures we’ve all become used to on our TV screens and social feeds, of empty supermarket shelves and massive queues for food and basic supplies.

How do I apply? NEW POLICE OFFICERS: For those who aren’t already in policing, there are now three main routes in. And don’t worry if you don’t have a degree. Some people think you need one to join, but that isn’t the case. We welcome degree holders (see Entry Routes 2 & 3 below) but many future officers will join Hampshire Constabulary under Entry Route 1, where you can actually earn a degree on the job, saving the cost of paying for one yourself.

OTHER ENTRY ROUTES: There are also non-traditional routes to enter policing including Direct Entry, Police Now and the force’s Specialist Entry Detective programme. Positive action It’s also worth remembering that the Equality Act 2010 allows us to promote equality within Hampshire Constabulary by adopting Positive Action to support people from under-represented groups. There are some exceptions for those serving in the armed forces, members of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and those who have taken a career break or gap year to travel or work abroad for up to 12 months. If you receive a conditional offer of employment or you are placed into a pool of successful candidates to whom we intend to make a conditional offer when the position arises, you must agree to undergo recruitment screening which may consist of vetting (including Biometrics), medical, references and a job-related fitness test. The criteria include:

Having 6/36 uncorrected vision or 6/12 corrected in either eye AND 6/6 in both eyes. Laser correction is fine after six weeks, but severe colour vision deficiencies (monochromat) will prevent you from joining.

Having a body mass index (BMI) between 20 and 29. Being able to reach level 5.4 on a 15-metre shuttle run. Full eligibility criteria will be included at the point we advertise for police officer roles.

The Ford Dealer Apprenticeship Programme (FDAP) successfully recruits approximately 500 new Apprentices into the Ford dealer network every year. Today’s cars and commercial vehicles are the miracles of modern engineering and computer technology. Apprentices on the Ford Dealer Apprenticeship Programme can be assured that they will receive the highest standard of training to work with Ford vehicles and support the efficient running and success of the dealership. The Programme is managed and co-ordinated for Ford by Skillnet Limited and is approved to deliver programmes lasting between 12 months and 3 years. Our technical programmes combine hands-on workshop training with block release for college training and study. Our non-technical programmes are delivered in the workplace. Decorator Autism Hampshire Looking for an individual or individuals to undertake some decorating in a bedroom within a supported living home linked to Autism Hampshire charity. The work involved is stripping wallpaper, filling in 3 holes and then painting the bedroom. So would be a couple of days work. The materials for this will be provided.

Shopping Helpers MHA Southampton Live at Home We are seeking reliable people in Southampton to help us support older people with their weekly shopping needs. We mainly shop for vulnerable or disabled people who might struggle to get around a shop or more at risk and need to stay home to protect their health. All expenses are paid and full training and DBS is needed however the cost of this is covered by the organisation.

Befrienders MHA Southampton Live at Home Befrienders are matched to a member based on interests and this role would involve providing friendship to that member. This might be over the phone/via video chat or face to face. The normal commitment to this role is 1 hour per week and is very rewarding.

Van Driver Southampton Scrapstore We are looking for someone with experience of driving a van and local knowledge of Southampton's roads, to collect resources form our suppliers. We have weekly collections, such as Ikea, that need to be collected and then delivered to the store and unloaded. The idea candidate will be over 35 (for insurance purposes), have a clean driving licence for 3.5tonn van and have a keen knowledge of health and safety when loading and unloading a van. DBS preferred but we can supply one for you. hours will be 10am -1pm Monday and Thursday.
