Election of 2020 Board Members

Retirees and their families joined refinery employees and their families at the annual
ExxonMobil Employee Family Picnic at Channahon’s Central Park on a beautiful
summer day. We enjoyed Hell’s Kitchen catered picnic fare and treats, Pizano’s Pizza,
beer tent, car show, swimming pool and water slide, Bingo and other games. New this
year was a kiddie pleasing carnival ride.
The Retiree Club Annual Dinner/Election Meeting will be held on November 21, 2019 at
the St. George Serbian Center. At this meeting, the Retiree Club membership will elect 4
fellow members to 2-year positions on the Retiree Club Board of Directors. The 4 new
Board members will join 2nd-year Board members Kerry Daniels, Nick Hively, and
Jeannie Wheeler to form the 2020 Board of Directors.
The Retiree Club cannot exist without a functioning Board of Directors as defined by the
Retiree Club Constitution and Bylaws. Please consider becoming a candidate for the
Board. Nominating Committee Board Members Mike Keniley and Vic Hernandez will be
polling the membership to create a slate of candidates. Please reach out to Mike or Vic
directly or through [email protected] if you wish to self-nominate.

Springfield Adventure—July 16, 2019
XOM Employee Family Picnic—July 27, 2019
Our coach bus left Shorewood early for a day trip to Springfield. We viewed detailed,
full-sized dioramas of the life of Abraham Lincoln and a fascinating Holavision theatrical
performance in which an actor interacted with vaporous images at the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Library and Museum. Some of us crossed the street to Union Station to view
a detailed model of the laying of the “golden spike” celebrating the 150th anniversary of
the transcontinental railroad. Following lunch at the nautical Chesapeake Bay
Restaurant, we experienced the grandeur of the fully restored Illinois Governor’s Mansion
with a guided tour.

4Q19 OUTLOOK
Cantigny Park & Illinois Holocaust Museum—
August 20, 2019
Flash back to field trips we took in public school. We traveled to
Cantigny Park in Wheaton by coach bus where we toured the
McCormick Mansion and learned about Robert R. McCormick of
WWI, Chicago Tribune, and WGN fame. After lunch at Le Jardin in
the Cantigny Park Visitors Center, we proceeded to the Illinois
Holocaust Museum in Skokie for a guided tour of the main exhibits.
Following the tour, we interacted with a holographic image of a
Holocaust survivor in a theater setting. The museum honors the
memories of those lost in the Holocaust by teaching universal
lessons that combat hatred, prejudice and indifference.
