“ Variety is the spice of life; that gives it all its flavor.”

English poet William Cowper in The Task

Our first General Meeting for 2020 is on the books (Whew!)

and I am ever so grateful to the folks who guided me

through the procedures and protocol in the world of

Roberts’ Rule of Order. Yes, it does seem like ions since I

have dealt with all of that! Humor seems to help get us

through the rough spots.

As I write this, folks going to Moab are packing up all kinds

of quilting goodies to spend days focused on fun, fabrics and

fellowship! Can’t wait to see the final products!

Wow! Just Wow! Our Rendezvous classes offer such a

variety, and wonderful challenges. They give our quilt group

the opportunities that we seem to enjoy and embrace!

Wow! Just Wow!!

Our programs for 2020 are beyond amazing! Hard to choose

just a few… Well done, ladies! Well done!

So many projects speak to our hearts: HopeWest, St.Mary’s,

Quilts of Valor, TLC, Christmas Stockings, Australia Relief…

The list goes on and on! And, you give and give to each and

every one of these events. Thank you!

Stay warm! And, keep on quilting!

BLOCK OF THE MONTH

Our BOM for 2019 has come to an end.

Now is the time to work on getting the

blocks put together! We will have a reveal

of all your hard work at the March meeting.

Your quilt top (or table runners, etc.) do

not have to be completely finished, just put

together in some sort of fashion.

Now for the next great news we have all

been waiting for. The BOM for 2020 is

now underway. The block we will work on

and show at the February meeting is called

“Icky Thump”. The entire project will be

paper piecing. (Debbie’s favorite thing to

do!) The pattern will be emailed to mem-

bers and handed out to those members

without email at the general meeting.

Please remember to pick up your blocks

at the end of each meeting.

If you have any questions for the past

or the present BOM feel free to contact

one of us.

Happy Quilting!

Tips by Char

TIP: Store fabric without fading. I am sure we all have fabric which has been stored

on a shelf forever and not protected from the sun. Some of us are fortunate to store

all of our fabric out of the sun. For those who have to store fabric on a shelf in a

sunny location, fold the fabric so the selvage is facing out. It may not be aesthetically

pleasing as storing fabric with the fold out, but it will assure you won’t have faded

color on the fold when you wish to use the fabric.

TIP: Identify used needles. If you have ever changed your sewing needle, laid it down

on your sewing table and later tried to read the small numbers on the top to no avail

here are 2 solutions. 1. Use small pill bottles to store used, BUT STILL USEABLE, sew-

ing machine needles. Label each bottle with the size and type of needle. Needles still

in the original package = new. Needles in the labeled bottles = still serviceable. Nee-

dles and pins that are dull, bent, broken should be placed in a bottle or sharps con-

tainer for proper disposal. 2. Use a tomato pincushion to “store” still usable sewing

machine needles. Label each tomato section with the needle size and type.
