Students of Akhnoor College boycott their classes and in the shape of rally marched towards main road and blocked it for more than two hours. FIR against I/C District Mineral Officer Geology & Mining Deptt STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Police on Wednesday registered an FIR against In-Charge District Mineral Officer Geology and Mining department Doda-Kishtwar regarding the breach of criminal trust. According to a report, a complainant namely Khursheeda Begum wife of Mohd Ramzan resident of Gawari Tehsil Gandoh district Doda lodged a written complaint at Police Station Gandoh to the effect that one Moti Lal, In-Charge District Mineral Officer Geology and Mining department Doda-Kishtwar had authorised the complainant to extract the minor mineral under notifica- tion No. 133 dated April 20, 2016 for the period of five years. The complainant deposited an amount of Rs 7 lakh with the non-complainant vide Govt. Receipt No. 5906229 Dated June 11, 2017 in presence of some wit- nesses. But later on the said accused denied that no such amount was received by him. The complainant was not allowed to collect royalty and further added that there is no such order passed in this regard. In this way, the alleged accused has committed the offence of cheating, misappropriation of property and criminal breach of trust and further requested for taking legal action against the accused etc. Upon the receipt of this complaint, Doda Police took cognisance into the matter and registered a case vide FIR No. 72/2017 under sections 420, 409, 403 RPC against the alleged accused at Police Station Gandoh and inves- tigation was set in motion. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: The locals of Poonch town held a strong protest and blocked the Bus Stand - Purani Poonch Road against power and water crises in the town. They said despite repeated requests to PHE authorities, the problem of water scarcity was not solved due to which people, including men, women and children came on road. They blocked not only the road but the entry - exit routes to the main city. The locals said that there had been unscheduled power cuts up to 12 hours and alleged mismanagement and negligence of the PHE and PDD Department. They pointed out that due to the failure on the part of depart- ments the public is made to suffer. They strongly criticised the senior officers of these departments that repeated complaints lodged with them are given no cognisance and no action is taken to redress the consumers' grievances. Immediately on receipt of information, the Naib Tehsildar Mohd Akram Tantray alongwith XEn PDD Maqbool reached the spot and assured that action will be taken to improve the situation at the earliest. STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Panic gripped Bhadarwah town this afternoon as people were taken aback after police sud- denly imposed restrictions on visiting famous tourist spots Padri, Seoj, Ramtund and Kailash meadow by drum beating without assigning any reason. With record number of tourists visiting these places in last three months, the sud- den order came as a shocking surprise. Chaos and confu- sion gripped Doda District when a drum beater reported- ly hired by police department started reading the order issued by Bhadarwah Police regarding restrictions and conditional visit to the famous tourist destinations including Padri on Bhadarwah-Chamba Inter- State Road, Seoj Dhar, Ramtund and famous pil- grimage destination Kailash Kund. People were skeptical over the reason behind such an order and were seen attribut- ing various reasons like ter- rorists movement, escalation of India- China conflict, etc. A resident of Mohallah Sarafan Bhadarwah said that this may be the result of increasing tension on Indo- China border but I am unable to understand that how come police has imposed restric- tions in Bhadarwah Valley when Bhadarwah is the only place in Jammu and Kashmir which is at least 200 Kms away from any international border or LoC. Meanwhile people, especially those asso- ciated with tourism were seen up in arms against the police and termed the order as most irresponsible and made apprehensions that it will mar the budding tourism industry of the region. President Travel Trade Association, Tariq Choudhary said that this is surely the handiwork of coali- tion government on the behest of communal forces, who are hell bent to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere to damage the prospects of tourism here. "If restrictions are not taken back immediately we will be compelled to come on streets and surrender the keys of our Hotels and Guest Houses to the administra- tion," Choudhary warned. "The news of restriction spread like a wild fire and within minutes several book- ings got canceled resulting in huge loss as we have already made all the arrangements for a large trekking group who were supposed to visit Seoj, Kailash and Sarthal but they canceled their trip immediately after the news," said Humayon Khan, owner of Chinar Hotel and Restaurant at Sungli Tourist Resort. "This is highly irresponsible and condemable move on the part of police, I am unable to understand that what police want to prove by resorting to drum-beating, if there is some apprehension, they can install a picket there," said Neeraj Singh Manhas, District Youth President, National Panthers Party adding that Police is just shy- ing away from its responsibil- ity. When contacted SDPO Bhadarwah Brijesh Sharma said, "The restrictions have been imposed as these are high altitude areas. We just want visitors to take prior permission before going to these areas." However, According to Tehsildar Bhadarwah Masood Ahmed, "I am unable to understand as why Police included Padri as there is no such restriction in the order copy with me and only debarred areas are Seoj, Ramtund and Kailash." Various issues causing concern in the area were raised by the participants. School in Udhampur shut since Aug 15 due to absence of teachers STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: A government-run primary school in a remote village of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur dis- trict has allegedly remained closed since August 15, prompting authorities to order an inquiry against two teachers posted there. The school, set up in a wooden structure at Nanansoo village on a hill-top, about 30 kilometers from Udhampur town, has remained closed since August 15 due to non- presence of the teachers posted there, the villagers claimed. Chief Education Officer Udhampur Jattu Ram Bharadwaj said a probe has been ordered into the closure of the school. "The closure of the school for the past nine days, if true, is a serious issue, and we have immediately ordered a probe to unravel the truth," said Bharadwaj. "We have taken a serious note of the matter and will not tolerate such a thing. Stern action will be taken against the teachers if the allegations are proved right," he added. Bharadwaj said he was in Jammu to attend a meeting and could not visit the school today. The villagers alleged that the students were turning up for the school daily and waiting for hours together outside the closed structure, only to return after some time. UDHAMPUR: A government-run primary school in aremote village of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur dis-trict has allegedly remained closed since August 15,prompting authorities to order an inquiry against twoteachers posted there.

The school, set up in a wooden structure at Nanansoovillage on a hill-top, about 30 kilometers from Udhampurtown, has remained closed since August 15 due to non-presence of the teachers posted there, the villagersclaimed.

Chief Education Officer Udhampur Jattu RamBharadwaj said a probe has been ordered into the closureof the school.

"The closure of the school for the past nine days, if true,is a serious issue, and we have immediately ordered aprobe to unravel the truth," said Bharadwaj.

"We have taken a serious note of the matter and will nottolerate such a thing. Stern action will be taken againstthe teachers if the allegations are proved right," he added.

Bharadwaj said he was in Jammu to attend a meetingand could not visit the school today.

The villagers alleged that the students were turning upfor the school daily and waiting for hours together outsidethe closed structure, only to return after some time.
