DARTMOUTH Getting to school couldn’t be easier with our new Dartmouth campus. Located directly across from the Alderney Landing Ferry Terminal you can easily cross the harbor in minutes and have access to both cities. The campus is in the heart of downtown Dartmouth close to restaurants, shops, and other great services.

SALONS CBBC Career College has two full-service teaching salons and spas: REGENCY in Halifax and ASPIRATIONS in Sydney, where students enrolled in Aesthetics and Cosmetology programs offer services to the general public.

These programs require practical, hands-on training. ASPIRATIONS and REGENCY salons take appointments year-round so students can gain the necessary skills to be fully comfortable in all aspects of hair design and aesthetics. Students also learn the day-to-day management of operating a salon. All student services are monitored by master level instructors.

The Halifax waterfront is a hub of culture and commerce in Nova Scotia. Surrounded by sparkling ocean, a working port, and featuring one of the world’s longest downtown boardwalks, the Halifax waterfront is home to a mix of year-round and seasonal businesses, exciting events for the whole family, and emerging urban developments.

The Cabot Trail is considered one of the world’s most scenic destinations, with stunning ocean vistas, old-growth forests, prehistoric rock scarred by glaciers, and the mysterious Cape Breton Highlands.

The Administrative Assistant program is designed to prepare students to enter the job market with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform a wide variety of administrative duties. CBBC graduates are employed throughout the private and public sectors and leave the program with a thorough understanding of business office procedures, computer fundamentals, Microsoft Office applications, and social media marketing techniques. CBBC Graduates will be valuable assets to any existing business, as well as possess the necessary skills to start up and market their own business.

AESTHETICSTOTAL PROGRAM 37.5 Weeks Theory2.5 Week Practicum CAMPUS Halifax, Sydney

The Aesthetics industry is constantly growing and trends continue to change. Students will learn basic aesthetic procedures including manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, make-up, and lash/brow tinting. They will also receive advanced training in the most current body treatments, facials, and hair removal techniques. Throughout the program students are taught in our training salons and spas, through both theory and practical hands-on work. As well, a Business Building module is taught to help them be successful in their careers. In the salons we use products such as Quinessence, Bio-line, and Creative Nail Design. To help better a student’s education and experience at CBBC, they are provided with a student kit which includes the latest tools of the trade. As part of the program, students also attend the International Beauty Show in New York City. It’s an experience not to be missed as it exposes them to the world of aesthetics in a new way.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKERTOTAL PROGRAM26 Weeks Theory 9 Week Practicum

This program develops the knowledge and skills relevant to helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of settings. Students will be trained to work in residential and community settings as a Community Support Worker.

CONTINUING CARE ASSISTANTTOTAL PROGRAM22 Weeks Theory 10 Week Practicum CAMPUSSydney, Dartmouth

Students will be trained to provide direct client care in home support agencies, nursing homes, and homes for the aged. Individuals will learn to provide care which meets the various needs of the elderly, the disabled, and convalescents.

COSMETOLOGYTOTAL PROGRAM 37.5 Weeks Theory2.5 Week Practicum CAMPUS Halifax, Sydney

The Hair industry is constantly evolving and techniques are continually changing. Through our Redken Premiere Salon, students will gain the knowledge and skills to become a licensed hair stylist. Colouring, chemical treatments (such as permanent straightening and perms), haircutting, advanced foiling and anatomy are all covered throughout the program. Guest instructors regularly come in to teach the latest techniques in the industry. In addition, a Business Building module is taught to help students be successful in their careers. To help better a student’s education and experience at CBBC, they are provided with a student kit which includes the latest tools of the trade. As part of the program, students also attend the International Beauty Show in New York City. It’s an experience not to be missed as it exposes them to the world of aesthetics in a new way.

The Cosmetology and Aesthetics Combined program is the only program of its kind in Nova Scotia. Throughout the program you will gain the skills necessary to work in all areas of the beauty industry. Students who enroll in the combined program receive a tuition bursary.


DENTAL ASSISTINGTOTAL PROGRAM 37 Weeks Theory 5 Week Practicum CAMPUS Sydney, Dartmouth

CBBC Career College’s nationally accredited program will prepare each student to assist the dental team in all aspects of care in a dental office. The program includes instruction on the procedures performed in a dental practice or a dental specialty practice, as well as administration of individualized patient education and treatment, as outlined under the scope of practice within the profession of Dental Assisting. Both Sydney and Dartmouth campuses have fully functional dental labs with working operatories, x-rays, and sterile labs. All modules are made practical through community dental health projects and an on-site clinic which is open to the public, in order for students to practice their skills before the final practicum.

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to enable their clients to look and feel good. The program provides training in procedures & draping, eyelash systems, lash removal, tinting, lash lifting, and maintenance.


The Administrative Assistant program prepared me and gave me the confidence to enter the real business world. The close knit atmosphere of CBBC made me very comfortable. Each and every staff member at CBBC was extraordinarily helpful on my journey in obtaining a full-time position in Cape Breton.

MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANTTOTAL PROGRAM 19 Weeks Theory 6 Week Practicum

CAMPUS Dartmouth

CBBC’s Medical Laboratory Assistant program meets the standard for medical laboratory technology education in Canada as outlined by the CSMLS (Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science) and is a nationally accredited program. The program is comprised of practical and theoretical studies to prepare students for the work environment. Students are introduced to medical terminology, clinical laboratories, and laboratory mathematics. All students perform a 6-week placement at hospitals around Nova Scotia.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 or GED, Grade 11 or 12 Biology (min 60%) OR Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry (min 60%), Grade 11 or 12 Math considered an asset, Vulnerable Sector Check, Immunization Agreement Waiver, Admissions Interview

MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATIONTOTAL PROGRAM 22 Weeks Theory4 Week Practicum


This intensive, full-time program is designed specifically to get individuals employed in a medical office. Students will receive plenty of hands-on experience and in-depth working knowledge of how a busy medical office functions. Upon completion of the program, successful graduates will be ready to start work in most professional medical offices with a sound knowledge of the filing system, medical transcription, computerized appointment booking, the billing system, and record-keeping.

PHARMACY ASSISTANTTOTAL PROGRAM 25 Weeks Theory 6 Week Practicum


The practice of pharmacy has evolved beyond the traditional dispensing functions, creating the need for knowledgeable, technically-skilled and competent supportive personnel. This program is designed to train Pharmacy Assistants to assist Registered Pharmacists or Pharmacy Technicians in community and hospital settings in their respective drug distribution systems. In addition to practical training using a commercial computer system, skills in communication and interpersonal relations will be developed.

TEACHER ASSISTANT TOTAL PROGRAM 26 Weeks Theory 8 Week Practicum


Education is constantly changing with the implementation of the all-inclusive classroom. As a result, there is a growing need for support staff in the classroom. The Teacher Assistant program includes both academic and practical work-term study. The work placement applies the academic techniques taught in the classroom and gives opportunity for feedback. This program is excellent for someone wishing to work with children in a public school setting.
