Congratulaons to Mathew Tice! He placed 1st in the State Dog Show in Intermediate Conformaon - Hounds! Trenton Richie and Emily Robertson represented Gray County at the District Trap & Skeet Contest in Amarillo. Trenton placed 5th in Trap and 7th in Skeet. Emily also parcipated in both Trap and Skeet. Great job guys!

The first annual Gray County Fun Shoot was held Saturday, June 18th. Duncan Youree, Emily Robertson and Trenton Richie, all placed in their respective age groups. Congratulations to this great group of shooters. Also a big thank you to Quail Forever and Capital Farm to make this shoot possible, Culligan and Gebo’s for donating water and ice, and Tim Richie for volunteering his time to coach the youth!

All Clubs will resume meetings beginning September 2016. Keep an eye out for meeting

dates in the newsletter in August!

Family Swim Night

Bring the family out on Thursday, August 11 at 8:00 p.m. for

Family Night at the Pampa H20 Water Park! All 4-H

members are invited for this night of fun. We would like to

recruit new 4-H member so feel free to bring any friends

you think may want to join the program!

More than 170 youth from 21 Panhandle counties submitted 4-H record books that were judged by

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension county agents and adult volunteers July 7 at Texas A&M AgriLife

Research and Extension, Amarillo. Gray County submitted 11 books to the District Contest.

Brycen Epperson placed 9th in Junior Foods and Nutrition. Joshua Lee placed 8th in Junior Foods and

Nutrition. Savannah Sellers placed 4th in Junior Clothing and Textiles. Tony Soria placed 1st in Junior

Companion Animals. Kellie Davis placed 1st in Intermediate Public Speaking. Izaak Lee placed 5th in

Intermediate Foods and Nutrition. Emily Robertson placed 1st in Intermediate Shooting Sports.

Jacee Sellers placed 3rd in Intermediate Public Speaking. Victoria Swift placed 1st in Intermediate

Clothing and Textiles. Mathew Tice placed 1st in Intermediate Companion Animals.

The Photography Project will begin meeting again on September 20th at 7:00 p.m. at the

Annex.

Photography Project

The Food and Nutrition Project will begin in August. Please check for emails and/or text

messages from Joan for meeting dates and events.

Food and Nutrition Project

The shotgun project has completed for the season and will start again next summer. Watch

the newsletter for information on the Air Rifle Project, beginning after school starts.

Shotgun Project

The Archery Project will meet on Monday, August 22nd at the Annex at 6:00 p.m. For

more questions call Chad Epperson at 806-662-8014.

Archery Project

The time of year has come to be thinking about sheep and goats for the 2016/2017 show

year. Validation tag order are due to the Extension office by August 26th. Remember, we

can show ewes and does at the Top O TX Jr. Livestock and the Gray County Show, but

not any major shows (only wethers). They must be validated in order to show at TOT,

County and major shows. In order to show at the Tri-State Fair, they must be owned by

August 15th. If you have any questions, please call Mike at 669-8033.

The 4-H Youth Council will meet in September

to elect the new 2016/2017 officers. Please

watch for email updates from Joan when a date

has been set.

4-H YOUTH COUNCIL

The Parent-Leaders Council will meet in October

to approve the budget. The date is still TBA.

Emails will go out prior to the date to ensure all

Parent Leaders can be a part of this.

Vet Science will resume meetings in

September. Keep an eye out for meeting times

via email and text messages.

ACHIEVEMENT LUNCHEON

Our Achievement luncheon is set for Sunday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church. This is the time

to come celebrate in the recognition of the outstanding efforts of our 4-H members and Leaders. Please RSVP

to the office so that we know ahead of time how many people to expect.

Highland Baptist Church is located at 1301 N. Banks in Pampa.

We hope to see you all there!

Annual 4-H Enrollment

4-H Enrollment starts August 15th for the 2016/2017 year on 4-H

Connect. The enrollment fee will be $20.00 for each 4-H youth from

August 15, 2016 through November 1, 2016. Starting November 2,

2016 the enrollment fee will be $25.00 for each 4-H youth. If you

are already in the system, you do not need to start a new profile,

just go to your existing family profile and re-enroll. If you have an

incoming 3rd grader, please wait until September 1 to enroll. If you

enroll a 3rd grader before that date, the computer will code the

membership incorrectly. If you need help re-enrolling please call

the office at 669-8033. If you are new to the system you will need

to create a family profile and add all youth and adults that will par-

ticipate in 4-H and 4-H connect. When enrolling, you will have an

option on payment. By paying with a credit or debit card, the youth

will be in system immediately (recommended). If you do not have a

credit or debit card and need to pay with cash call the office for

assistance. If you have any questions call Joan or Sara at 669-8033.

on the following page.

The Top O’ Texas Rodeo parade is Saturday, August 6, 2016.

We need all 4-H members to plan to ride the float and promote

Gray County 4-H! Our theme is “4-H Grows Superhero's”. We

will have capes for all the kids to wear on the float that day, but

we need all the help we can get preparing the float. We are

going to meet at 6:00 on August 5th at the Annex to complete

the float. Please try to come help out!

We need everyone who will be riding the float during the

parade to be at the Train Depot on Atchison St. at 9:30 a.m.!

Trenton Richie placed 5th at the

State Trap & Skeet Shoot Out on

July 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. He

competed against 600 youth

from across the state of Texas.

Great job Trenton!
