PRINCIPAL’S REPORT—WEEK 6 Our P&C meeting for June will be held tonight from
7.30pm in the school library. Parents and community
members are encouraged to come along and contribute
to our P&C which actively supports all students in our
school through their efforts.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend some time
at our school orchestra session under the guidance of
April and Ben from NECOM. Congratulations to all
students involved – it is wonderful to hear the music
you are already producing and I look forward to
hearing and seeing your progress throughout 2014 and
into the future. For our orchestra program to work
effectively we need some parent volunteers to help
out with our percussion/marimba/keyboard/didgeridoo
group next term. If you are able to give up an hour of
your time per week, per fortnight or per month please
let the office know. If you have any other questions
about this program please contact the front office for
further information.
Well done again, to our Stage 2 and 3 choirs on your
performances and results at the Armidale Eisteddfod
last week. A big thank you must go to all parents and
staff who ensured students were dressed in full
school uniform for their events. The boys and girls
looked immaculate and your presentation made me very
proud to be the Principal of Armidale City Public
School. Congratulations also to students from our
school that performed in individual and other groups
sections at the eisteddfod. Particular mention must be
made of Georgia Bursle – Year 2 student who has had
great success in a number of different dance sections.
Well done to our boys’ and girls’ softball teams on
their efforts in matches against Duri and Tamworth
Public Schools earlier this week. The girls team moves
on to the next round of the state knockout after their
win. Thank you to parents for their support with
transport and as spectators and to Mrs Docksey and
Mrs Kelly for coaching both teams.
Our School Council Annual General Meeting for 2014
was held on Monday, 20 May. There is still a vacancy

on our School Council for a parent representative. If
any parent is willing to take on the role of parent
representative on the School Council, please advise the
front office as soon as possible. The role of the
School Council is to assist and advise the school in
ensuring the needs of all students are being met. I
look forward to working with the School Council in the
future for the benefit of students and staff at ACPS.
A note has gone home with students who currently
attend non-scripture in Year 5 and 6 to gather levels of
interest for a school based Ethics program. Notes are
due back before the end of this term so we can
ascertain level of interest for the Ethics program at
our school. At this stage we are commencing the
program for Years 5 and 6 students and it will run at
the same time as Scripture classes. The level of
interest will determine whether the Ethics program will
roll out to other year groups in the future.
I would like to remind all parents and carers if you are
collecting students in the afternoon to remember that
the school car park is not to be used as a collection
point for students. This is to ensure the safety of all
students and community members and we thank you for
your ongoing support with the safe collection of
students from school.
Our school newsletter is available on our school website
and we are currently investigating avenues to put other
notes and information on our website or on stage
webpages. Please feel free to email me on the address
below if you wish to raise any points of interest, thank
you to parents who have already emailed me with
suggestions and questions. If you would like to come in
and have a chat at any time please contact the office
for a convenient time.

3/4J CLASS NEWS Wow this has already been a super busy term. 3/4J
have had the delight of being taught by Mrs Pankhurst
recently when she was undertaking her first prac. We
wish Mrs Pankhurst all the very best for her future as
a teacher.
We have been enthralled learning about British
colonisation and are keen to share our knowledge as we
develop a powerpoint presentation over the next few
weeks in our computer time. This week the children will
be presenting their multicultural speeches in class.
We would like to celebrate the Stage 2 children's
success at the Eisteddfod. The teachers and I could
not have been more proud of the effort and focus that
the children displayed on Tuesday. A huge thanks is
extended to Mrs Tammy Kilpatrick for her expertise
and passion to our choir. It was wonderful to look up
into the audience and see so many wonderful ACPS
parents beaming with pride. What a wonderful school
we have.
