Issue 6 — Term 2, Tuesday, 27th April, 2021 Dear Parents and Caregivers, Welcome back to all our Central families and a very special warm welcome to our new families! I have been super impressed with everyone making sure they are in uniform everyday ready to learn. Well done to you all. It is starting to get cooler in the mornings and I would like to remind everyone to please name jumpers and trackpants, so if a student removes them as the day warms up we know who to return them too. I would also love to extend my gratitude to the Central community that has made me feel so very welcome for the first two weeks while Mr Nastasi is enjoying an extended holiday. I have loved being back with our Central family. Mr Nastasi will be back on deck on Tuesday 4th May. ANZAC Parade: Thank you to all our wonderful students for organising our special school ANZAC assembly on Friday afternoon. I am very proud to say that the parade was a time of remembrance for our ANZAC’s and that everyone displayed our school expectation of ‘Be Respectful’ during the parade. Also, thank you to our families that were able come and be part of our ceremony as well. A special mention also goes out to our school leaders Rylee and Zoe that represented Bundaberg Central for the parade that marched through Bourbong Street and also to Rylee’s grandparents joined us for the parade as well. This is a great opportunity for our students and I hope to see everyone out ‘having a go’ at the various things the high schoolers have planned.

Positive Behaviour for Learning – Week 1/2 On the first day back this term, our whole school had a PBL parade to discuss what our behaviour focus would be the first two weeks of term. Mrs Child’s, Rylee and Zoe marched at the Bundaberg ANZAC Parade. They wore their Central uniform, held our school flag and marched proudly with the other participants. Rylee’s grandparents joined in to represent our school as well. The students placed a cross at the Cenotaph on Bourbong Street to show their respect.

PBL Rule for the fortnight: ‘Be Respectful’ - Use an appropriate voice.

The student leaders at Central State School did us proud as they lead the staff and students with our annual ANZAC ceremony on Friday 23rd April. Koby and Rylee recited a piece ‘We Remember’ while Rocco and Zoe also stepped up to the microphone to say ‘A Prayer Of Remembrance’. You can be nervous when speaking at special events but these students did very well. Each class made a wreath to place at the Cenotaph. Two students from the classes were chosen to lay these. Yr 3-4-5-6 students were Brodie and Zeke. Prep 1-2-3 were K-C and Tonisha. Students stood respectfully at the Cenotaph after laying their wreaths to think about the lives lost and the sacrifice that was made by the ANZACs for us to have the life we have today in Australia — Peace. Family members were in attendance to witness and pay their respects.
