You are a content superhero.
You’ve got information that’s going to knock ‘em dead.
But you’re NERVOUS.
Your physicality crumbles when you present.
And you know that will undermine your message.
You have to find YOUR Neutral Position.
Neutral Position is a strong, confident, centered stancethat is the foundation for your presentation physicality.
All of your strong gestures and movement will flow from your Neutral Position.
And everyone’s is slightly different.
Here are 4 steps to finding YOUR neutral position, and loving every minute of it.
1. Start by placing your feet hip-width apart, with easy, unlocked knees.
Avoid placing your feet too far apart (or too close together!) and locking your knees.
Locked knees=restricted blood flow=passing out!
2. Raise both arms above your head.
Now, drop them and let them fall naturally by your side.
Go ahead and repeat that a few times.
Go on! It helps....
Wherever they naturally land is the Neutral Position for your arms.
3. Observe the positioning of your head.
Your head should sit comfortably on your neck, chin parallel to the ground.
Avoid tilting your head too far forwards or backwards for extended periods of time.
Not only does it create tension, it affects eye contact and vocal production.
Now you’ve found YOUR unique Neutral Position.
But what about the “loving it” part?
Sure, at first it might feel a bit…robotic.
That’s just because you’re not used to it yet.
And just like a dancer, building muscle memory takes time.
The key to LOVING IT is…
Practicing will build the muscle memory that will help you get comfortable with your powerful Neutral Position.
4. Practice!: On the grocery line, at the gym, before a meeting- wherever.
And then you’ll LOVE it.
Remember, your Neutral Position is the foundation for presentation movement.
Your gestures and movement will flow from there!
And once you find and LOVE this powerful, confident physicality
you’ll be a master communicator in no time!
