Rotary Club El Centro, California 7Frank Miranda, President 2014-2015 Celebrate Rotary Number 28 for the Week of January 29, 2015 Imperial Valley College Making a Differencewas the topic of the day. Todd Evangelist touted the ben- efits of a community college and some the current demographics at IVC. Per-student spending in Cali- fornia as at a community college is $6000 compared to $22,400 at a UC campus. Also mentioned was the role of the IVC Foundation. The foundation raised and distributed over $200,000 in scholarships and awarded 322 IVC student scholarships. A total of 4,423 units paid through scholarships. Next Todd introduced Mr. Ed Wells IVC P.O.S.T. Coordinator who is the Administration of Justice pro- gram director. This program prepares students in all aspects of law enforcement. Prior to this students had to travel out of town for this type of instruction. Mr. Wells mentioned that the majority of the students enrolled in the program wish to remain in the Imperial Valley to fill law enforcement positions.
