EPHESIANS 5:15
A wise person recognizes that all we have and all we are comes from God. A wise person thanks God continually throughout the day for all His many blessings. A wise person realizes that God has blessed us for a reason and that He wants us to help Him build His kingdom of earth.

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Staff Retreat! The staff of St. Francis de Sales Parish and School recently joined together in a blessed haven at our local Saints Peter and Paul Retreat Center. It was a wonderful opportunity for members of our school and parish staff to get toknoweachotherbetterandtoblendourvisionofpersonalspiritualfulfillmentandcontinuedforwardprogressin our St. Francis community. Our time within a 24-hour period was spent not only sharing meals and space together, but in shared prayer, shared fellowship, shared learning, and shared mission. These topics of evangelization and discipleship were key to our focus sessions:
• Living Stones, 1 Peter 2:5• Jesus is our Rock and Cornerstone• Prayer: When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2• God’sChisellikeMichelangelocreatingDavidchiselsaway...
We look forward to taking what we learned together and bringing it back to the parish and school to further our mission of making disciples and disciple-makers.

The ROSARY…and a fascinating story…
Jim Castle, a management consultant, was tired when he boarded his plane in Cincinnati that night back in 1981. As more passengers boarded, the airliner was noisy with the sound of bags being stowed and conversation. Suddenly, everyone became silent. Walking up the aisle were two nuns clad in simple white habits bordered in blue. He recognized the familiar face at once…the wrinkled skin and the eyes, warmly silent. The two nuns halted, and Jim realized that his seat companion was going to be Mother Teresa. She and her companion pulled out their Rosaries. The jet taxied to the runway and the two nuns began to pray…their voices were in a murmur. Though Jim considered himself not a very religious Catholic, he found himself joining in. By the timetheyfinishedtheRosaryprayers, theplanehadreachedcruisingaltitude. Mother Teresa turned to him…a sense of peace engulfed him. “Youngman,” she inquired, “do you say the Rosary often?” “No, notreally,” he admitted. She took his hand, while her eyes probed his. Then she smiled. “Well, you will now.” At that, she dropped her Rosary into his palm. St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
Remember, you and your family are always invited to take part in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday, thirty minutes prior to our Vigil Mass.
