At a young age, Jordan S. Powell, 30, isobtaining exceptional settlements andgreat respect from his peers.Powell is alitigator at Levin & Perconti whoconcentrates in personal injury andmedical malpractice. He has animpressive record of success, whichincludes several seven-figure settlements.

For instance, Powell negotiated a $3million medical malpractice settlementfor a retired cafeteria worker who wasparalyzed from the waist down when aneurosurgeon injured her spinal cordduring a surgery. Powell has also obtainedseveral notable nursing home negligencesettlements, including a $1 million recordhigh Nursing Home negligencesettlement in Lake County.Powell has alsoobtained several other high six figuresettlements for his clients in personalinjury cases, including a $850,000settlement in a slip and fall case.

Currently, Powell is representing a familyafter the death of a father and son in aresort pool drowning; a young couple witha case against the City of Chicago afterthey were injured when an impairedStreets and Sanitation worker drove ontothe sidewalk; and a 19-year-old passengerof a vehicle who sustained severe facialinjuries from a shattered windshield in a motor vehicle accident. Powell is alsocurrently handling several cases on behalf of clients who received faulty hip implants.

Miguel A. Ruiz, with Pretzel & Stouffer, who has been opposing counsel onseveral of Powell’s cases, has a strong

respect for him. “Jordan has alwaysimpressed me with his ability tounderstand that we are all workingtowards the same goal: resolution of thedifferences between our respectiveclients,” Ruiz said. “His recognition ofthis makes him a pleasure to work with.”Ruiz said that Powell is a qualifiedattorney with a bright future. “He isrespectful, easy to work with and he is astrong advocate for his clients,” Ruizsaid. “His results obtained so far speakfor themselves.”

Ruiz called Powell “quick on his feet,”and added that he possesses traits criticalfor a trial lawyer, such as the ability toinstantaneously respond to issues thatmay arise throughout the course of thelitigation process.

Rick Wittmer, with Kitch DrutchasWagner Valitutti & Sherbrook, has worked with and against Powell. “Jordanhas already made a name for himself as a hard and fair fighter and has won the respect of more senior attorneysbecause of his ability to balance these characteristics,” Wittmer said. “Ibelieve this myself about Jordan and have discussed him with a number ofother attorneys who have had the same experiences with him and feel thesame way.”

Constance R. O’Neill, with CassidaySchade, has served as opposing counselto Powell on several cases. She said thathe is professional and fair.“I have beenan attorney for over 25 years and havecrossed paths with many younger

attorneys,” she said. “Jordan approachescases in a fashion that wouldpresumably exceed his years ofexperience, reflecting his keen insight, analytical abilities, and intelligence.”

While the young, successful lawyermanages to stay extremely busy, he alsodoesn’t let his work consume him. Healso finds time to give back to thecommunity and legal profession.
