GENERAL INFORMATIONOBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:• Become familiar with the current approaches to using hypothermia to treat HIE in neonates• Be able to assess the future approach to screening for metabolic diseases in the newborn • Analyze the approaches to the long term management of infants with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia• Contrast the pros and cons of various approaches to the management of patent ductus arteriosus in the neonate• Identify the diagnostic and interventional approaches to neonatal hematologic coagulation disorders • Determine the acute and long term impact of viral infections on the neonatal brain• Examine novel approaches to optimizing nutrition and growth of low birth-weight, premature infants• Appraise the implications of over and under nutrition on long term outcome and determine best practices to improve growth and development• Apply the most current approaches to the diagnosis, prevention and management of newborn central nervous system insults• Determine best practices for ventilator management in infants with respiratory failure• Examine the current approach to the diagnosis, safe monitoring and management of infants exposed

in-utero to the Zika Virus

DETAILS OF WORKSHOPMorning lectures will be 30 minutes in duration followed by discussion periods. Workshop sessions will be 60 minutes in duration and will include discussions and practical demonstrations. The discussions and demonstrations are informal sessions in which participants may directly interact with the faculty.
