Step 1
Switch on the light source and remove the eyepiece cover, if present.
![Page 3: 4.2 (a) To be familiar with and use the light microscope](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022032517/56649c925503460f9494dca9/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Step 2
Rotate the nosepiece so that the low power objective lens is in use.
![Page 4: 4.2 (a) To be familiar with and use the light microscope](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022032517/56649c925503460f9494dca9/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Step 3
Put a prepared slide above the hole in the stage. Secure with the clips.
![Page 5: 4.2 (a) To be familiar with and use the light microscope](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022032517/56649c925503460f9494dca9/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Step 4
Using the coarse focus wheel, ensure that the low power objective lens is as close as
possible to the slide.

Step 5
Adjust the iris diaphragm if the light is too bright.

Step 6
While looking through the eyepiece, use the coarse focus
wheel to focus on the slide.

Step 7
Still looking through the eyepiece, use the fine focus wheel to sharpen the focus.

Step 8
Rotate the nosepiece to the next highest power objective lens.

Step 9
Re-focus using the fine focus wheel. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to view the slide under high power.
