FROM THE PASTOR "GOD, OUR FATHER, YOU ARE THE GUARDIAN AND GUIDE OF OUR LIVES. YOUR WORD IS JOY, YOUR WILL IS LIFE, YOUR COMMANDS BRING PEACE. WATCH OVER AND GUIDE US AS YOU DID

YOUR SON'S EARTHLY FAMILY..." A Christmas Sourcebook, p. 84

Today is the FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY. Today reminds us of the gift of Jesus, Mary and Joseph to each other and the gift they are to us. The Holy Family offers us an example of respect for one another, the ability to listen to and respect each other. It is in this environment that Jesus grew, listening to and learning from both of his parents. These are values that are still a part of our families as well. Sometimes, we think that our families can't measure up to the Holy Family. The fact is that our family is the environment in which we learned the values that helped us grow as mature individuals. While our families are not perfect, we learned respect for ourselves and each other. We learned how to care for one another, and how to share what we have with others. Our families are holy because of the presence of Jesus in each member and in the family as a whole. No matter how large or how small our family might be, our family is the building block of society and a miniature example of the church. In his letter on the Feast of the Holy Family, Pope Paul VI described the Holy Family as a school of learning, and that he would have liked to have been present in their home. The same can be said of our family because it is in this experience that God becomes present through each member. While there are a variety of families, each one is unique and contributes to each member the same val-ues that were expressed in the Holy Family. There is no question that too many families are in crisis for one reason or another. But it is the family that offers each member, and all of us, a sense of security, safety and the opportunity to experience friendship and love among each member. The family is that unique experience which enriches the lives of each member, and offers the church the opportunity to discover the wonder of Emmanuel in each of us. This we then bring to our experience around the Lord's Table as we encounter him in the Proclamation of the Word and the Breaking of the Bread. Then we are sent forth to touch one another with the gift that Jesus is for us, especially our family. Today, we will bless all our families at the end of each Mass. HAPPY HOLY FAMILY SUNDAY!!! On behalf of our entire Parish Staff: FR. SILVANO, FR. JOHN, DEACON DAN, DEACON JERRY, NANCY CAPUTO, ANN MARIE GESUALDO, MATT WILSON, CAROLINE PONTERIO, OUR SUPPORT STAFF, AND MYSELF, I want to wish you and your family our best wishes for a HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR. May 2019 be a year of grace for you, your family and our parish!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! BUON ANO!! FELIZ ANO NUEVO!!!

PARISH SCHOOL NEWS Mrs. Caroline Ponterio, Principal

Help Us Enter the New Year

God of all time, help us enter the New Year quietly, thoughtful of who we are to ourselves and to others,

mindful that our steps make an impact and our words carry power.

May we walk gently.

May we speak only after we have listened well.

Creator of all life, help us enter the New Year reverently,

aware that you have endowed every creature and plant, every person and habitat

with beauty and purpose.

May we regard the world with tenderness.

May we honor rather than destroy.

Lover of all souls, help us enter the New Year joyfully,

willing to laugh and dance and dream, remembering our many gifts with thanks

and looking forward to blessings yet to come.

May we welcome your lavish love.

In this new year, may the grace and peace of Christ bless us now and in the days ahead.
