4/5 technology & equipment in workplace training: including everyone
TRANSCRIPT
Presenting in the Training Room vs Online
• When presenting in an online environment the trainer needs to add extra slides to the presentation they delivered in the training room so that the distance learner can see and hear what they can’t see in the classroom.
• While text should be minimised in training room presentations, hearing impaired will appreciate text to accompany the voiceover in an online presentation.
Vision Impaired
• Very common • Use a large font size for
powerpoint slides eg 28 point size +.
• Read out any writing on your slides.
• Be careful about using reds and greens in your presentations.
Hearing Impaired
•Hearing Impaired: also very common in the workplace.•An ‘invisible’ impairment.•Make sure the sound quality of your videos is good.
Mobility Impairment
• Mobility impairment: temporary or permanent
• Ensure that there is a good space between tables
• Careful re cords on the floor and between tables. Place a chair over the cord to alert people to the trip hazard if necessary.
Continue the Learning
• Personal Learning Networks (PLN) help learners throughout their working lives.
• Join a PLN or create your own through:– Work colleagues– Twitter– Facebook– Blogs
