Water in the river picks sediments from the shore and carry them downstream the mouth of a river.
The Rio Grande carries sediments our of Santa Elena Canyon in the Trans Pecos Ecoregion
Deposition The settling of sediments in a new location. Wind and water can deposit sediments in new locations.
Sediments that have been carried from upstream are laid down at the mouth of a river to form a delta.
Sediments that have been weathered from the Edwards Plateau are eroded and deposited south to form the South Texas Plains.
