Textual Analysis
Now that you have chosen a genre and song, you will need to produce at least threeindividual detailed analyses of similar products for you main task.
Analyse 1 (more you do, more marks) music videos of your choice in relation tocinematography, sound, miseenscene, editing and conventions (remem!er "oodwins."enre and technical).

Use the grid below to analyse your chosen music video. Remember you need toanalyse how shot types, camerawork, Mise en Scene, editing, intertextualityand representation are used to make the video appeal to the target audience.Don’t describe what you see, analyse how it’s being presented to you.

straight panning shot looking down onthe artist's head and shoulders
Analysis
The MS of the artist's head and shoulders cuts
in closer and !egins to pan around to the left
which takes in their whole profile while they are
lip syncing along to the lyrics which makes the
audience feel closer to the artist" The setting is
unusual as the whole !and appear to !e
su!merged and unconscious lying in a !ody of
water !ut then makes sense as the shot of the
artist cuts to the side of their profile and
compares the person they are singing a!out to !e
like 'water'" #owever there appears to !e use of
high key lighting when highlight's the artist's
unusually pale skin tone" As the shot is only of
her head and shoulders at this point the
audience cannot see what she is wearing !ut her
vi!rant red hair green eyes and red lipstick
make her stand out from her translucent

previous parts of the video and this is the first
time the audience sees it fully and can take it
all in" At this moment they are not performing
and appear to !e unconscious !ut is still
relevant to the narrative !ut the audience is not
yet aware of why this might !e" Their costumes
are *uite smart as the male !and mem!ers are
seen wearing suits and !ow ties and the female
lead singer is seen wearing a !lack and red
dress which matches her !right red hair and
there is a cross tattoo .ust visi!le on her thigh"The shots seems to pan and spin around
slighting in order to give the audience a full
view of the whole !and to highlight the
significance of this shot"
