The Legal Food Frenzy is a statewide competition among Virginia law firms where firmscompete in a head to head competition to see which can raise the most food and funds for

    their local Food Bank.

Last year, 21 firms in Southwest Virginia raised more than $19,000 and 1,000 lbs of food forthe Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank and its partner agencies. Thats the

equivalent of more than 60,000 meals for hungry men, women and children in this region.Statewide, more than 200 firms and offices participated, raising the equivalent of1,652,732pounds of food in cash and food donations.

    This year, we want you!

In this region, more than 201,000 hungry clients are served annually bySouthwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank, 66,000 of which are children.

This campaign provides lawyers and their staff an opportunity to make a big difference intheir communities by helping their neighbors who are struggling to feed themselves and theirchildren.

Furthermore, the Legal Food Frenzy is a competition for the Attorney Generals Cup, whichwill be awarded to the one law firm, agency or corporate legal department that raises the most

Creative Ideas for Your Food Frenzy Campaign

Dress Down Day- If you donate a certain amount you may wear casual attire. Match- Some local firms have had very successful campaigns by simply offering a match.

Whatever totals the firms staff collects during the competition, the firms partners match. A match

can really add a bang to your total at the end!

Potluck Day- Everyone brings a dish for lunch and in order to gain entrance you must pay anadmission fee.

Costume Theme Day- Create a theme, for example, Mardi Gras or St. Patricks Day Parade. Ifyou bring in a certain cash amount you may dress for that theme.

Food Theme Day- Challenge co-workers to bring in as many different food items as possible in acertain category. For example, food geared towards people with diabetes, or food for children in aparticular age group. Whoever has the most different types of food within the category wins a prize.

Lunch for the Hungry Day- Everyone contributes what they would normally spend on lunch. Cookout- Last year a Roanoke Valley firm raised a large chunk of change with a cookout for all

employees. The firm provided the burgers, dogs, and buns; the staff each brought a dish; andeveryone paid a fee to get in!

Prize- Have a prize for all employees who participate if your company wins their category or overallevent.

Totals- Display daily totals in high-traffic areas or announce totals using emails to keep people upto date and involved.

Friendly Competition- Conduct non-monetary waging and/or email wars between law firms and/orfirm sections.

Rewards- Have rewards for staff members who donate more than $100.
